His tongue is never out of his mouth... He only barks when he absolutley has something to say... and he has only barked once that we have heard since he has been hurt- and that was when my niece came in. He was happy- all jumpy and wanting to play- but still so serious. He is a kissin' fool- and will drown you in slober... I hope he's happy |

Not sure what you mean by smiling... if a dog shows it's teeth in what looks like a smile it's a sign of fear or aggression...
If you just mean a happy looking expression... well, he may still be in pain. Dogs hide pain very very well, until it is impossible to do so. |

The tail waggin- tongue out kind of smile it what I'm talking about ... not the show it's teeth in fear or aggression kind He really never does have that kind of face- even before the surgery...just an observation |
I wouldn't worry, Tasker isn't a smiler either. This past Christmas I got my first picture EVER of him smiling. He also seldom barks. Like people, they each have their own personalities. |
My Abby is a serious-minded girl too...she will get that happy smiley expression only very rarely, (mostly when she's getting Daddy-cuddles). If he's a "kissing fool", I'd say he's a happy dog...just not a goofy grin kind of guy! |
