Thank you ahead of time. |

I'm not from Harrisburg, but I have a couple places for you to look.
We did herding with our 1st OES - Ollie and it was a lot of fun. We had herding classes at our farm for several years. Our instructor was a judge with AHBA, and we did competitions through this organization. Their website is www.ahba-herding.org They should have some info for you. Another helpful site is www.stockdog.com Good luck!!! |
This is the place that we found in the area. http://flyawayaussies.bravepages.com/training.htm
Still too busy in conformation to have them do herding but the chick there has been super cool in e-mails and all. |
OR we can all just go down to Cindy's place in Maryland and round up her neighbor's sheep! I almost forgot about that. |
Do any of you do herding trials?? I think it would be really fun. I like watching the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic and he took a dog herding. I just thought that would be fun to watch my dogs do what they were bred to do.
Whats your opinion on herding? and who is Cindy? Thanks |
Cindy is 4DogNight here on the forum and she lives way out in BFE, Maryland but it is a very cool place.
Herding is cool but your perception may be a bit off. From the people that I know who do herding, you are out there working just as hard if not harder than your dog. The dog doesn't just go out and round up the animals. You have to be very involved and really, one step ahead of your dog to figure out who's going to run and where there's trouble and all that. A few people here have done herding and said it's awesome so maybe you can get some first hand experience on that one. I'm really just the dressed up, running in circles person! |
