My mother raised Sheepies for years and just loved the breed. When we lived in Hood River Oregon she met the local Dog Catcher Malin and told him of her love for the breed. After that all Old English Sheepdogs were brought to our house until their owners came to pick them up or it was decided that the circumstances they were from were not worth returning to. We worked with the local sheltered, but we all agreed sheepies do not belong there. They need to be groomed and loved. Many sheepdogs over the years made there way into our lives temporarily. You can always tell when a sheepie had been neglected because it shows in their coats. I don't recommend this to anyone, because you might get a snappy one here or there, but it was very rewarding. Many beautiful sweet Bob tails got another chance. I always loved my mother for her efforts. I recently called the sheltered in my area and told them if they ever received a sheepie in need of a temporary home to call me. Some people get their hands on this breed and don't realize the efforts of grooming and the sheer patience of owning a OES. These puppies shouldn't suffer for owners bad judgments. I haven't been aware of this sit for long, but it does my heart good to see the sheer efforts you all are taking in recovering a sweet Bobtail. I will pass this along to my mother, she would be proud. |

Your mother sounds like a remarkable lady and someone I'd like. BTW, I really love your avatar picture. I think a sheepie should be in the wedding! |
