A good pair of clippers should go through a husky's hair like a hot knife through butter!
A good pair of clippers would be Two Speed Golden A5 Clipper or the Andis equivalent Andis AGC 2-Speed Heavy Duty Clipper; they both use the same blades and both have good reviews. I use an Oster I've had for many years; it's just a single (slow) speed, not the new two speed. You need the Two Speed (it runs faster) for heavier coats. I have tried a cheap "animal clipper" ($30-$40 range) and they just do not cut at all. I think the keys are: Nice sharp blade and non-matted hair. If the hair is matted, you may need to get a blade known as a "skip tooth" blade: The teeth aren't as closely spaced and it looks like the "missing" teeth are sharp and designed to help cut through the mats a little bit. Good luck! |
thank you very much, both me and zeus are very thankfull for your advice.
I will go and get the Oster since you use that one yourself and will let you know how it goes. thank you very much again |
Good luck!
Be SURE to keep the blades cool ALWAYS, otherwise they will dull, never mind being uncomfortable (burns) to your dog. Oil appropriately and use the clipper wash and cool products.
