When I got home I groomer Miley to check her over and I did not see anything. Well now 2 small pimples on her hind legs that are scabbed over. I had not taken Miley to the vet as I was not sure what happened. Now I am almost certain she was bite. I am just not certain what to do. Do I need to check if the other dogs have there Rabies up-to-date or will Miley's shot protect her. I think her bite is healing as I found the scab but not sure if I should double check with the vet. Anty thougths would be most appreciated. Becky and Miley Rose |

Yeah, you should make sure that they are up-to-date on rabies, but as long as Miley is.... I think he's ok? |
Hi,
Oh how scary that must have been! Although I understand how concerned you must be I think that Miley will be fine although can't say 100% as can't see the wound. Still the fact that it's scabbing over probably tells me that it was a superficial wound and not that deep. Welcome to the forum and I'm sure many other members will also offer opinions of how they would proceed. You've come to the right place to ask questions. Poor Miley! Mean doggies! Sounds like it is healing on its own. I think his own rabies vaccination will protect him but a quick call to your vet never hurts. . . |
Maybe some warm wet compresses to help both of you.....keep the scab soft for puppy and to help you feel like a better mommie.
Curious about how deep the snow might have been to reduce the shock value on the invisible fence. For that matter, the collar's batteries might have been low. Scratch that route off you list. Knowing there's an aggressive dog that can cross the fence would keep me away. |
What are your state laws?
Where I have lived, there is a leash law. ALL dogs must be leashed and/or must come immediately when owner calls it. If your state is the same, I'd call the police on them. They'll go over to their place and warn them. that's messed up that the owner didn't apologize. pissed me off. I would not have the same feelings if it was YOUR dog crossing onto their property, but it was their dog that crossed the "invisible" line. While the dog probably still viewed it as his territory, it's still the owner's fault. I hope your dog is okay now. |
Thank ! I appreciate your help. I rechecked Miley today and everything is healing well. I will make a call to the vet to check about the shots.
I am still made at the other dog owner and thanks for letting me vent here. I don't really want to go and ask it there dogs were vacinated as the dog owner was not really nice about it. If Miley bit his dogs I would be very sorry - this dog owner made me feel like it was my fault. Thanks again. |
