One of my neighbors has the invinsible fence. He doesn't have an OES but has three or four, I lost count, dogs in all sizes and shapes! Anyway, he had the invinsible fence but for some reason it didn't work so he had it reinstalled or something...now it works but the dogs ahve to wear the collar at all times when out...also, it will keep your dogs inside the fence, but will not keep other dogs out...This neighbor's dogs were absolutely wild and alwasy "escaping" his yard...now they sit in the front - far away from the "fence" ....but seem calm and happy... |

I have the invisible fence for my sheepies. It works great. My property is already fenced, but they were sneaking out under the fence, so I put up the invisible fence right by the normal fence and it works terrific. It makes letting them outside so much easier, because I don't have to worry about them (as much). I have had it for about two years and now I don't even use it anymore with one of them. -Fiona |

You have to watch their collars very closely. I shaved a spot on Mr. Bear's neck so it would actually work. Otherwise it just gets lost in all that hair. Also get one that you can control the intensity. |
I have one and it works almost all of the time. MArley has been known to go through it - of course when that happens for some reason she feels she has to get back inside so runs right back through. not sure how effective it makes it seem. |
For sheepies, fine. Good point about hair, the more hair, the more the bzzzz is reduced. Also batteries.
Some breeds, like Pyrs, aren't phased by a little pain and blow right through them. Love the idea of putting it along side the existing fence. Reinforcing the concept, "not thru here." |
Those of you using the invisible fence, please, please remember to have some kind of additional collar on your dogs with ID. My friend is an animal control officer and she has found many dogs who have gone thru the fence but have no ID and its very difficult to find the owners.
