not eating much

Hi, well Mophead is doing well, but it seems that she is just not a food person. LOL She is three months, and I give her 1 cup of iams three times a day. She eats a few mouth fulls and then ... walks away. She is still so young and I am afraid that she just isn't eating enouph. So following someones suggestion on the forum I started mixing in other things to get her to eat: chicken broth, beef broth, etc. Not too interested. So I started mixing in cottage cheese! Oooooh baby! Does she like that! However, is this something I can continue to do with her on a regular basis, or should I keep trying for her to eat regular food, without mixings. Hmmm. I can't immagine that cottage cheese is bad for her, calsium and all. What are your opinions? Could it be a summer thing? She is mostly inside in the airconditioning tho.

I had similar problems with Dancer. The thread about it is here http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=598&highlight=eat
She still isn't a big eater, but she's doing fine. As long as your puppy is growing and healthy, don't worry too much about it.
As long at she is eating I would keep doing it for a while. I tried yougurt, cottage cheese and parmesean (sp) cheese. The only drawback was the other dogs saw what Bella was getting and wouldn't eat till they had the same thing. They would just sit there staring at their bowls till i fixed theirs special too.
The vet said her weight was ok as long as she was eating some and still had energy.
I still worry though. and they still get their special food often.

Well, I read that until they are 6months, its very important that they eat regularly and well. So, I know that almost everyone eats less in the summer cause of the heat, but she has to eat to grow up healthy and strong. So, if the cottage cheese is working, and you guys say its ok, I will keep doing it for a while. I also give her puppy vitamins as the vet suggested. So she should be ok. Has anyone heard of a treat called GREENIES? My friend recommended them for clean teeth and breath. Mop loves them. Expensive buggers, but I found them on ebay for half the price of the stores. LOVE ebay!

I've heard some negatives about Greenies - dog's vomitting them whole, etc. and they've always made my dogs sick - the cornstarch or something. Be careful!
I think they are similar to pedigree dentabones, which my first oes used to love, though i have never bought them for Dancer yet. They are almost pure cornstarch, so I would be careful about giving too many. That is a lot of carbohydrate calories, you don't want to overload her digestive system.
Oy! I only give her one a week. She really doesn't get too many treats, well, I cook her treats for her like chicken, and marrow bones. For training, I use some Training Bits, but I break them into quarters. She does love the greenies and she doesn't seem to get sick from them. Thanks for the warning, Kristen! :)
Dancer's absolute favorite treat is marrowbones, the ones made by pedigree. For training treats I use the wellness puppy kibble, she loves that stuff.
