We left Barney at a kennel/doggie daycare for 2 weeks when he was 10 months old. He had a great time and didn't forget his manners or his housetraining, so I don't think you need to worry about that.
I felt more comfortable leaving him with the kennel people because he goes there for doggy daycare and grooming and loves it, and I trust the people, than if I had let him stay home with pet sitters, but if you have people you'd be comfortable with sitting for your dogs, then that may be the way to go. |
I second the doggy daycare...
If you're worried about potty training, I think being outside, playing with other dogs will help immensely!! You can even enroll in a week long training session that set aside some time to train your puppy in addition to the socializing.. It's expensive but it was money well spent!!! With our first dog, it turned a shy unsocialized puppy into a happy well socialized one with great manners!! It was worth waaay more than any treats, grooming, etc... If you've never sent your dog to one before, you'd probably get on it now if you want the dog to feel comfortable there in April. They do have series of temperment testing, which I think would be a breeze for well socialized dogs... |
