Time for a haircut

I have really been enjoying Maggie's fuzzy curls. I usually keep her hair really short but I was starting to think maybe I could grow her coat out a bit. I was imagining how she might look. She came back from her 2 weeks of boarding lightly matted, but nothing too serious. I figured a quick trip to the groomers (hard to groom on crutches) and she'd be all set to keep growing.

Well, today Maggie and Ziggi went off on their usual hike with Ziggi's mom and both girls returned completely caked in mud. Now Maggie is completely matted with various plant materials stuck in there too. It is not the worst she's ever been, but close. Gosh they looked happy though.

So I guess I have to let go of my fantasy of a gleaming clean, long-haired Maggie and just accept that I have a dirt lover who does best with short hair.

Time for the clippers. :?

Suggestion, if Maggie likes to be groomed and can be trusted around your knee..
Lay out an old blanket or sheet (folded in half) on your bed for her to lay on. Pick a section and comb it out - a leg or two, the face, half of her body or her chest. The blanket/sheet should catch all of the mess and it is great bonding time.
I love her haircut too.
It is good advice but she is going to get muddy or dirty probably every day. I am just not sure I can keep up with it. . . But maybe I will try. . .
8O

I love the face of a muddy sheepie!
Are you sure Maggie and London aren't related?

Ha Ha Ha she is just your Tom Boy sheepie girl. Wants to run wild, run free and bring back the nature collectables in her coat for mom

No Pink Bows and flowing locks for maggie. :P

She is a back to nature girl.
Yeah. . . I just explored doing a section of her coat. . . it is hopeless. 8O

I need to say good bye to her curly, mud-encrusted, debris-filled locks. . .

I can picture the mess......
We'll be looking foirward to pictures of a short 'do. :D
I have a mud-lover too. I can empathize Val. I keep up with Fred's brushing but sometimes I start losing the matt-war. The odds are stacked against me, his coat is changing and he loves dirt. Sometimes my toddler throws food off of her tray down to Fred below. Sometimes Fred has a snack, sometimes I find rice and mac n cheese buried in the coat. I have been bathing him once every month and a half to keep his stink to a tolerable level.

I can relate! i gave up the fight recently too. at first i was like ...o' god what have i done, but now i see she LOVES her hair short. she is cooler and happier. i love it long but i live in a state where it stays pretty warm so i am learnig to like the short do'
