Hates to see me leave

Lola is great when I have to go out, she doesn't bark or cry much. I think she just sleeps while I'm gone :) But this last week, she's been real stubborn about coming into the kitchen when I need to leave or when we go to bed. We didn't crate train, our kitchen is about the size of a crate
And I always gave her a treat before I left. But now she knows that treat in the kitchen = someone leaving.
Any suggestions? I don't want her to have a negative feeling about sleeping in the kitchen etc.

Also anyone tell me at about what age you can let your sheepie sleep freely in the house at night? In the a.m. when I take a shower and if she's sleepy, I can leave her for 15-20 minutes without any problem. She's been good, but don't know if I should chance any longer. She's still only 5 mos.

Hi Pocha,

With my pups around 5 months is when we could expect the accidents to be fewer and farther between, but still occasionally an accident would happen. It has really been almost the 1 year mark for them to have the run of the house.
They do great, they even have food and water left out at all times, now. We might could have trusted them earlier than that, but to me I felt like it could have set training back if we would have let them have the house too early.
I wish you lots of luck with LOLA! Stormi and co.
walk her into the kitchen, then leave her there for a short time and come back, maybe its not you leave per se that bothers her, so much as the long time you are gone, if she doesnt know the time, maybe she wont be as hesitant, knowing you may be back in 5 minutes, 30 minutes, or after a full day of work gives her better options :-)
The issue with letting them have free run of the house is more with the trouble they can get themselves into (chewing, eating something dangerous, garbage picking, etc.) - not necessarily just for housebreaking purposes.

I would keep her secure until you are sure she can't do harm to herself while you're gone. (Probably at least 1 yr - depending on the dog)

Ha! Talking about garbage picking: Mopsey has discovered a place full of interesting toys and leftovers! Garbage can! Well, I went to Home Depot and got one of those cans that you can put under your kitchen cabinet! Worked great! And bought some trash cans that have covers on them. In the morning I would wake up, and she took all the tissues out of the pail in the bedroom, shredded them all over the second floor. LOL Now, she goes up to the trash can, and looks at it puzzled, "Hey what's that thing, and were are the yummy tissues?" He he he I can see her learning to step on the pedal of the trash can! LOL No advice, sorry, but just a funny story.
