Keira (Border Collie) would lay across me 24/7 if given the chance (sorry, no way Keira!). When I lay down on the couch to watch tv, Keira always (when not begging to play tennis ball) is curled up behind my knees, or laying on my side with her face resting on my shoulder. Pirate, is always laying on the floor. Last night outta the clear blue, Pirate cuddle behind my knees! I didn't expect him to stay there, but he did. I got about 20 good cuddling minutes with him!!! I rubbed him, and scratched his ears and head, and he was as happy as a pig in mud. This is very new for him! I wonder what got into him? I sort of don't care, I really enjoyed having my boy to myself!!! And we only stopped, because it was bed time. I hope he continues to do this. |

HEHEHEHEH, maybe he wanted to see what he was missing out on!!!!! |
If that's the case, I hope he enjoyed it, cuz I sure did |
Such fun
The "old" Pirate sound like Izzie. She isn't much of a cuddler. She sleeps on my bed, but it is a King and just me and her...so she has her own space. On the sofa or anywhere else, too much personal contact and she moves away I think she is worried I am going to whip out a brush or comb and start grooming her |
haha Amanda...sounds like Panda....
Deb, Glad you took full advantage of it...I hear ya how it doesnt happen all that too often....lol |
Hi Deborah!
What a sweetie, Pirate! I hope his "cuddleyness" lasts. Our first sheepie, Quincy, was the anti-cuddler....all petting and touching was on his terms. Oscar is our snugglebug. I can lay on the floor with him and he will let me pet him for hours. And if I stop at all, just to get the feeling back in my hand , his head pops up instantly, like, "Are you done ALREADY?". Is there no middle ground with a sheepdog? Laurie |
Glad Pirate is snuggling, but now you may have a couchful!
Chewie doesn't do couches, but he loves to snuggle and be hugged. He has started to climbing my lap while in the swivel rocker lately. He never used to and I have no clue why he started! |
I have had ethe same pattern of behavior with Marley and Morgan. Recently Morgan has begun jumping up on the coach at night and "demanding" attention. I assumed some of it was he is getting older (16 months) and feeling he can get hiw own way. Marley has always been a little bossy with him being 6 weeks older. |
Deb, Just enjoy it. And you truly need a cuddle bug sheepie - willing to lend Sam out. He will lay there and lick you and have you pet him all day long without moving. |
AW, that's so sweet |
How sweet! Have there been any more cuddly Pirate antics? Or was this a one time thing? |
Hi,
Awww glad to hear that Pirate got to spend some cuddling time with you. You know maybe he just wanted to act like a big boy the other times and then realized no matter what his age..he still likes being around mom! Nice story! Marianne and the boys |
that is wonderful, nothing better |
Nothing better than a furry snuggle and a sloppy wet kiss |
Glad to hear you had some cuddle time. Obe wont sleep on my bed either and it is a queen size with just me so he has plenty of room. I think he gets hot as well. He will sleep next to his bed or lay half on half off. It is funny he uses it like a pillow. He loves to sit/lay on the couch and get attention though. The other day I layed down in the floor and he layed next to me and wanted his tummy rubbed and just stretched and moaned. It was then that I noticed when he stretches out both front and back legs he is almost the same length as me. My boy is growing. |
Just an update. Pirate has learned to love cuddling!!! If I'm on the couch, and Dad isn't sitting with me, Pirate will cuddle behind my knees, and let me rub him. He loves it! He sit there, with Keira's tennis ball in his mouth, so she can't bother us. Its pretty cute and I love the special contact with him. (However, Keira has had just about enough! ) |
Yay! I've been wondering about this. What a great update. |
