Sorry to hear about your Abbey. I'm very curious where you got your Abbey. In 1998, we bought 2 sheepies from a family in Christmas Valley, Oregon. They were fantastic dogs but we soon realized they came from a a puppy mill. Suzy showed signs of hip and spine troubles by age 3 & she had good days and bad. At 5.5 Abby started walking weird and had pain when you touched her breast area. After a vet visit it became clear that she had advanced cancer. We made a tough decision to put them down together since Suzy had trouble getting up a good share of the time and they were so close to each other.
Shortly after losing both girls we ran into a lady from Washington (Tacoma) with an OES named Oliver. He was just 3 and already had surgery on his shoulder. We found out that she had purchased Oliver from the same women who was now working out of the Portland area.
A word to all, if you get a OES in the Pacific Northwest make sure the family never lived in Christmas Valley. You'll get great dogs with a very short life. |
