Free OE in Ohio

male, neutered, house and leash broken, 5 years old.
LOVES to play fetch with the ball, long walks and sleeping on the bedroom floor. His previous owner had kept him in a dog kennel for long hours and he was not able to run and play as a large dog deserves. He is registered and chipped. i will put you in contact with his previous owners if you would like to give him a home.
No rescue groups. You must pick him up from our home or meet me in a neutral spot for pick up. I cannot cover costs that come along with owning OE so a groomer visit will be needed once placed. I also can put you in contact with his vet for his records.
It has been just over 1 year since his last vet visit but has been given canine spectra 7 & kennel cough vaccine about 9 months ago administered by me.
We have a small dog who starts fights each time the OE comes near the kids or his food. He also has recently started nipping at hands when he plays so needs someone who can help him "unlearn" the habit. I would not reccomend him for a family with small children. He likes to sneak crackers and juice cups from them when you are not looking.

Why would you not want a rescue group to take him? They'll find him an excellent home.
Looked that route and their "requirements" I cannot afford and am not going to do. A vet visit plus shots plus he needs to be "cleaned up". I will not spend a single dollar to place a dog who I am giving away free to a group who is going to have the potentials pay a fee for paper work and vet/other costs.

This forum is for placing OE's right? So if anyone is interested in him before I have to give him to the humane society by March 15th then please email me.
Thank you for your interest.
I don't think all rescue groups have those requirements. We have many people involved in rescue here, perhaps they can help you at no cost to you.

What city are you in?
Hi,

If a rescue group will take your dog for free, would you be willing to turn over your dog to them?

Just asking.
Please do not hijack this into a topic on rescue groups.
This is a topic on a dog free to a good home.
Thank you for your interest and concern. Now back to the original subject please.
This isn't a hijack, this is the forum owner posting.

First off, let me say that I'm sorry you're going through this. Giving up your dog is never an easy thing to do, no matter what the reason, and I apologize for not starting with that sentiment in my first post.

Everyone on this forum wants to give your dog the best chance at having a great life. Probably the best way to do that is to have the dog placed with a group that is all about the dog, that is experienced in evaluating Old English Sheepdogs, has a list of pre-qualified people looking to have an Old English Sheepdog and can match up your boy's particular needs with the resources of an appropriate family.

Especially a 5 year old dog with a history of "nipping", already on his second home. This time it should be all about doing what is right for your dog, shouldn't it?

If we thought that the best way for you to accomplish giving your dog the best chance at a great life was for you to find and to pick someone youself, we'd encourage you to do that.

Successful one-to-one placements have been made, and have been made through this forum, and perhaps you'll be one of them. If you stick around, by the end of this conversation you'll have lots and lots to think about in your decision on how to place your boy.

So stick around, and chat with us for a while about your dog and your situation, and we'll help you all that we can.

Have you tried to contact his breeder to see if he or she will take the dog back? Some breeders do this.
where in ohio are you?

contact me at ohereiam@aol.com
If you cannot afford the vet visit etc. Most rescues understand & will not insist on that. I am w/ OES of the southeast oesrescuenetwork.org. That is why we volunteers do fundraisers so we can help doggies when the families can't afford to. I know our orgnization has done so. Sue
