TORNADO WARNING - TN
There has been an official tornado warning for those in the Memphis TN area. If you live in that area please put on the local news and heed the warning in case you aren't near a television or don't have an emergency radio. | the tornado that hit central fl early this month was devistating and there wasn't really that much warning aside from the newscasters saying later that evening would be severe thunderstorms (they mentioned "potential" severe storms around 6-11pm, and the storms touched down 3am when a lot of people didn't even know they were going to get hit). I just wanted to make sure that perhaps any warning from anywhere is better than nothing....
I live about 25/30 minutes from where the tornados hit in lady lake, fl. Being that I moved down here from NJ, I wasn't really aware of the severe weather in JAN/ FEB like this. Just wanted to mention it to the forum.... two words... "global warming" Severe blizzards and tornado touching down in texas, and potential tornado in TN in the same day ??? |
| I've grown up in tornado alley. We've had a siren warning system in place for as long as I can remember. It amazes us when we realize that other areas don't have them.
And our kids start tornado drills in January, every year, once a month. We also recognize wall clouds on sight and know what a rotation and hook mean. |

| It was pretty scary last night...I live in a suburb of Memphis and ever since we had Hurricane Elvis (a couple of summers ago 80 MPH straight line winds came through and really tore this city up) my Stella Blue gets VERY nervous when a storm approaches...now she even wakes us up at night and we will turn on the tv and sure enough, a storm will be approaching.
We still have very high winds today but the rain and thunderstorms are gone. |
