That is an interesting article - thanks for posting it!
Great article! Thanks!
The Monks of New Skete, trainers of german Shephards, wrote two books about training and in both write about these critical periods. Also, the Volhards - same thing.

It's amazing what we "teach" our puppies to do without even realizing it and then as adult dogs ask how to undo it! And once again, the period before your puppy even comes home to you is a critical learning period. Another reason why you should chose your breeder carefully!

Thanks again for posting it.
Interesting article - I do try not to molycoddle when they are frightened, hard not to though - sometimes I need a reminder that Ollie isn't human

I handled that kind of thing wrong when Dancer was a pup... did exactly what it says not to. LOL
I learned from my mistake and didn't repeat it though...

What I thought was interesting was the bit about "puppies should be in their new homes at 7 weeks"
For a few years now we have all been told no earlier than 8 weeks, so I wonder why?
It seems that in the maltese community and other small breeds... they feel mommy needs to socialize with puppy until they are 12 weeks old before they leave the home.

I think that has more to do with small breeds being prone to hypoglycemia as puppies....
true. that's definitely part of it!
