You're doing the right thing if you feel like you can't give him the life you think he should have. Please contact a rescue, and I know someone will pipe up with some information for a contact in Michigan or Indiana who can help you. Good luck! |
Do you think the dog's breeder would be of any help in rehoming him? Many breeders include a return provision in their contracts when they sell puppies. Others don't want to be bothered. If you signed a contract when you purchased the puppy, take a look at it!

How is he with other dogs and kids? I want to adopt an oes but it has to be good with kids and other dogs. |
Can you post pictures? |
Jami and Dave.
If he is not neutered yet, please make sure that is done before he is placed. You can make that his adoption fee, so it won't cost you a thing. You did not leave a way of contacting you....if you join up you can get private messages, in case you don't want to leave your email address on a public forum. But breeders generally would like thier puppies back, if it doesn't work out. Check your purchase contract. |
please let me know |
Yes, more info please. We are looking to adopt and I'm just in the beginning stages of contacting rescues.
How is he around young children? Current habits - runs around in fenced yard or leash walked? Stuff like that... |

Hi...To be honest with you guys, I would take your oes in a heartbeat (if good with dogs and children)...I would love to have another oes....and I know that I will take good care of him.... but I also do understand that a good oes rescue home in your area or nearby will be the best choice if the breeder doesn't take him back. You can let them know ( the rescue) that I am interested and then we can go through all the process of interviewing, etc that comes along with adopting an oes. After that, they will decide if I should adopt the oes but it will be the best way to know that your sheepie is going to good hands. These guys from rescue homes do a good job with placing dogs in the right homes. |
Jamie and Dave, there is a wonderful OES rescue contact right near you in Michigan. Please send an email to houserex@mich.com. Gerry is very responsive to email. She placed two OES with us. If you prefer, please send me an email or PM asap. Thanks! |

I thought you purchased Fozzie from Gerry as a puppy. He was a rescue? |

Annie was a rehome through Gerry..not necessarily a rescue but a placement. Annie had co-owners that didn't work out so she came to us. So, I like to say Gerry "chose" us for placement of two of her sheepies. Hope that makes sense. |
Jamie and Dave, how can you be contacted? |
Jami and Dave
You can go to www.houseofrex.com and contact them. It is a rescue home in Michigan |
Hi Jamind Dave,
I can help. I also live in MI. Please send me a pm or e-mail. Thanks, Laurie |
Did Toby ever find a new home? Kind of odd that the owners would post, receive all these replies, and not answer them. |
Bump because Toby is still available according to the other thread. |
I posted a new thread about Toby, but I just wanted to post on this thread again in case anyone was still interested. Toby recently fractured his leg- one of his only bad habits is jumping REALLY high when he gets to go for a walk, and he landed on his foot wrong. But he is recovering just fine. Anyways thats why I haven't responded. Toby is a really great dog and it's going to be really hard to let him go, but we know it's best. So if anyone is still interested please contact us, by phone is best since we aren't online very often. 269-655-2057
Toby's stats: male not nuetered. 1 year old, born feb. 2 2006 great with children, we have a 2 year old who adores him walks great on a leash. he's not that big, 65 lbs. but he's really lanky. he is still mostly black and white, both ears are black and one eye has a silver patch. he's adorable. Sorry again for the delay in response. Jami |
Jami and dave: Did you contact Gerry with the Michigan rescue? Or are you doing this on your own? |
I am very interested in learning more about the OES in Kalamazoo.
Please respond to: vicptn@sbcglobal. Thanks, Vic |

I am very happy that things seem to be working out.
