I saw this in the newspapers this morning. 
Really going to help with the custoday battle she has coming up with her ex. What is wrong with her? She also checked herself into a de-tox facility and checked herself out after only 24 hours, then went and had this done. Crying while she put the clippers to her head. She is seriously having some sort of breakdown. Then walked over and had tattoos done after the shave. Her ex has cleaned himself up a lot since the split and the way she is going and how nutty she is behaving, I think he will end up with the kids.  |

| Yeah, apparently she left the 2nd treatment facility. Hopefully she's going into treatment in a more hidden location--I guess there were TONS of paparazzi surrounding the Malibu treatment facility--including helicopters. Very sad if the paparazzi were any part of the reason she left, though.
And as far as I know, in order to be forced to stay in treatment, you have to have a court order, like if you were arrested for DUI and it is a court mandate that you serve 30 days in rehab...other than that, it is totally up to the patients whether or not they remain. |

| I think you can't declare someone incompetent or have them committed for something until they try to take their own life...then you have a specific amount of time that you have to be locked in the psych ward of the hospital, but it's really short, like 3 weeks or something and then they are free to go.
And I think because she has so many people to take care of her kids, that can't be used as a reason for her to be called imcompetent, because she's not endangering them because she's not around. So sad... |
For a while, I kept saying and thinking how idiotic Britney is. Then this morning I did start to feel badly for her and especiallly her children. She has been on the stage in one form or another since she's been about 9 yrs old. Her parents were guided by managers that just wanted money. This girl accomodated the public for years and was likely manipulated in various ways. She only has a 9th grade education and must not have had a knowledgable parental role model present who could parent a child star. They weren't capable of providing her with the guidance she required thus how could she know right from wrong or need from want?? It's very sad and was only a matter of time before she cracked  |

| It's getting sader and sader by the day. Her ex has temporary custody at the moment and probably will end up with permenant care as well. And her family re-checked her into re-hab, let's hope she can straighten herself out as she is a young girl with obviously a multitude of problems she is battling at the moment and for the sake of her two little kids.

| It is very sad to see small children affected by the
inappropriate behavior of their celebrity parents. I hope Britney acquires some insight and judgement in rehab, around taking care of her health and wellbeing so she can properly care for her children. I watched the hearings this week on Anna Nichole Smith. It was so sad to see how personal choices and by not getting appropriate treatment , Anna affected her beautiful baby. It was additionally sad to see the parties to the hearing place their needs (money) before what is best to honor their loved one and be responsible to this beautiful, innocent baby. The most disappointing part was a Judge who has not appeared to have made it out of adolescence. His behavior was shameful and insulting to all of the attorneys and Judges in the USA who work hard everyday in a professional manner to resolve disputes. And to all the parties involved in the hearing. |

| In some states, parents or other family members can have someone committed for a short term, usually 48 hrs. My inlaws, in one of their last ditch efforts to get my brother in law (who was certainly an adult in years) to go into rehab. Unfortunately, the involuntary hold is only 48 hrs and that's not enough time for someone to detox enough to make a rational decision.
Oh, and the contradiction in the term 'one of their last ditch efforts' is not lost on any of us. Unfortunately, none of them worked. I think that it's everything: Publicity seeking substance abusing clueless dumb post partum depression Not having any context for her life. I can't decide if I feel sorry for her or just think she's the biggest loser there is. I do think that the best thing for her would be if the press would quit following her around, publishing her antics and misadventures. A few years of enforced time out of the lime light could only do her good, particularly if rehab and psychiatry were also involved. |
| I just found this thread, wish I had gotten in on it days ago. Here's my .02...This is what happens to you when your Mom allows you to objectify yourself at the ripe old age of 16. What type of parent allows their teenager to make a career out of wearing next to nothing? You are setting a girl up for a poor self image as a woman. Once the poor self image is set in a place, she marries the first loser that she can locate, or two losers in the case, flashes her breakfast (my mom coined this phrase) at the photographers while going pantyless and eventually end up checking in and out of rehab. Britney probably needs some serious therapy coupled with a long stay in rehab.
I do feel bad that she appears to have hit rock bottom. I feel bad that her children have a mess for a mom. I hope for the sake of the babies she stays in rehab until she is ready to deal with the outside world. |

I don't think it happens for anyone. Well, somehow, Robert Downey Jr. managed to keep working after practically living in rehab but he never had the superstardom that Britney had. |
| Britney can never be what she was...a teen pop star. She isn't a teen, and her time has past. Even if she releases more music I don't see her evolving as some others have.
Unfortunately for her...she has not shown talent for anything else that would keep her in the spotlight. She didn't turn out to be a good actress or something like that. |
| It's interesting to seehow 2 others who were right there with her have faired: Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera. Both have continued to be successful (very) and have managed to evolve into a star for today's world. Christina went through her 'dirrrty' phase, but maybe that was more about her 'art' than in her real life...or maybe she just got 'over it' like most kids who go to college and party a ton, but then graduate and grow up.
So both of those 2 like to party and have a good time, and both have been known for some risque performances...so it's just interesting to me to see how they seem to have 'survived' growing up...and Christina is married, but her marriage seems like a good one (so far ) |

| Kim: I though about your question and Elton John is the answer that I came up with. He had a huge drug problem, coke I think, rehabbed and he managed to return to to music quite successfully. He's had number one songs, sells out tours at with outrageous tickets prices, has academy award nominated songs he cowrote, a broadway musical, is very active in charitable work for the AIDS cause, and was knighted by the Queen all after battling a terrible addiction.
Now Elton's only troubles are financial as he apparently like to spend a lot of money and the press somehow has the ability to view his available funds. Ron: I am thinking there was speculation that Lyn Spears allowed her daughter to get the breast implant but, I don't remember reading anything concrete or silicone about it. |

My first thought is Mariah Carey. She has made a huge comeback in the pop and R&B arenas. I don't think Britney will make it back as a huge star. She was cute in her younger years and dances like very few white girls can; however, that's about it. She is trashy, doesn't have a good voice, isn't very cute anymore, has two kids...maybe she isn't interested in being a star any more. My hope is that she can move home with her Mom and sister to raise those kids in some sort of family environment. It's sad for them |

| Ron, I could be wrong, but I think you're thinking of Lindsey Lohan. There was a lot of talk of her having one at a young age, although I think they said she didn't have one. Can't remember..
With BS, I think the issue will be "wanting" to make the comeback. She doesn't seem to have the drive like she used to. Knowing she was going downhill (fast), she continued to head in that direction. When given chances to rectify her image (from smoking, quick marriages, being a virgin), she went in the opposite direction. We do seem to "forget" easily. Look at the Dixie Chicks, Olsen twins, Lindsey will be fine. Paris only became more famous after her sex-capades. Shoot... Whitney houston (used to be so pure and respected) was given a reality show after it was revealed she had a coke addiction. |
