We got there and Dixie was very polite with the resident dachshund..Nice gentle sniffs, and great calming signals there. The 2 leggeds sat in the living room to chat while Dixie explored the main floor. Well, that took about 2 seconds and then she came flying into the living room, onto the couch to snuggle next to the adult daughter..Big mistake to scratch Dixie absentlmindedly...next thing you know she is walking onto her lap and covering her face with kisses! Then she sat right on her, so I couldn't even see the woman anymore. The lady was laughing and gave her hugs, but I called her down, anyway. Then she sauntered over to the mother, who was sitting on a single chair, and climbed up in the 2 inches of space left on one side of the chair and, and did the same thing! Almost shoved the woman right out of the chair! So she was called down, again, then she went back to exploring... First ...one of my red gloves appeared, in the mouth of a sheepie....that was removed and put away....Then the second red glove was brought in to show off her cleverness. The 2 ladies were in stitches. I did a quick tour of the house, checked the back yard, and Dixie drank up the dog's water. leaving the typical sheepie water pool on the floor. Then as I was getting my coat on Dixie, with that little nub going a mile a minute....plants herself right between the daughter's legs for a butt rub.. Never a dull moment with these sheepies.....And you HAVE to have a sense of humour to live with one... |

What a ham Dixie is. You are right that you must have a sense of humor to live with them. |
What a perfect introduction to the fun of sharing life with a sheepie! Dix is the perfect ambassador. Did they seem to enjoy her antics? |
Sounds like Dixie made herself right at home there.
Gotta love it! |
She does do a good job at home visits - the potential owners know exactly what may happen! |
Hi Nicole,
Your story had me chuckling as Dixie sounds as if she's the perfect ambassador of what living with a sheepie would be like! Marianne and the boys |
I hope this was a house visit for an OES! |
I just love Dixie! Way to go girl, showing them what having a sheepie is all about! |
She does do a good job, way to go Dixie |
The other day I was fixing something to eat and Obe was chewing on one of is bones, normal. After a few minutes I noticed it was real quiet, okay he fell asleep. Wrong he decided he wanted to get on top of the coffee table and watch me make lunch. Must admit it was rather cute to see him sitting in the middle of the table like he belonged up there. My first thought was great now when we go somewhere to visit, I not only have to worry about him getting on a couch or in someones lap but their coffee table as well. |
'Atta girl, Dixie baby!! Show these people what "Life with Sheepie" is all about!! I would have loved to see it. So, Nicole, did they pass the test??? |

That's what I was wondering, too, Chris. Dixie did a great job of showing them what it's like to have a sheepie in their home. Do they qualify?? |
I don't get it, what's so humorous... this is normal everyday life for everyone, isn't it? |
Well, the home visit was not for an OES. The folks did prove that they are not concerned about dogs on the couch, on their lap, and making messes on the floor.
If folks can handle an OES visiting they can pretty well handle anything.. And, yes, they were approved. |
Dixie did her job well then! |
