I'm new in the forum... i'm glad i found it! The forum was been very helpful and learned a lot about OES. I also enjoyed all the picture posted. I will be a future mom of an OES very soon. Is there any good shapoo/conditioner you can recommend? I been in petstore and saw many brand, but i'am confuse what to get. Not for sure what is good for OES hair. Looking forward to hear from anyone's advice. Thank you in advance. |

We have enjoyed using a variety of shampoos.
Right now we're using an oatmeal shampoo to try to reduce itching. Previously we've used Johnson and Johnson's Baby Shampoo. I REALLY liked that for the way it made our baby smell. |
Carl posted some instructions on bathing in this poll about shampoos.
http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=2077 Assuming you won't be showing your OES, I'm pretty sure you can use any puppy shampoo or baby shampoo - don't use regular human shampoo.... though now that I read the post it looks like some people have used quality human shampoos with success. |
I use Chris Christensen's DAY TO DAY SHAMPOO, and I could not imagine life without it!!!!! It prevents excess coat loss and light enough to use daily.
I follow it up with CC's AFTERBATH. It's good for all coat types, and unlike many shampoo/conditioners, it removes the excess residue and stuff. You don't have to double and triple check if you've rinsed them completely because this pretty much rinses off right away. Gives it a little condition w/o weighing them down and it Says it cuts down on drying time. However both products are very expensive and I've resorted to buying it by the gallon sizes! Smells wonderful! |

I used Aveda Sap Moss shampoo on Clyde when he was a puppy (and peeing on himself regularly) when I ran out of dog shampoo and really liked it. I actually bought a bottle just for him. It's very moisturizing and made him soft-- not a trait you want if you're showing but great if you're not. It's all natural and very gentle too. I have baby fine hair and I'm allergic to everything so I figured if it was gentle enough for me, it would be okay for him, too! |
I usually just use whatever is handy. At the moment it happens to be L'Oreal Kids.
I've tried some pricey dog shampoos and find them no different. An experienced breeder told me she used to use Palmolive dish soap. Whatever works... |
I use Bio-groom Super White for the whites. Otherwise, I love the Cloud Star Buddy Wash Bar and Buddy Rinse. The Buddy Wash line is natural, and the bar lasts forever. We use Buddy Wash and Rinse on all our dogs. (Chewie's the only sheepdog)
There are lots of good products out there - many to pick from! |

Welcome to the forum and trust us when we say we ARE ALL looking forward to photos of your soon to be furchild and stories of his/her antics Anway as to your question. Sheepie Heaven mentioned an old thread where I discussed a bit about bathing and keeping the whites white. I also posted recently to a similar question where I provided a number of links to other threads where I discussed shampoos and bathing. It was at http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?p=83618#83618 There is a fair bit of reading in those threads but as long as you don't suffer "information overload" I think most of your questions will be answered there. Of course don't hesitate to post more questions if you need specific help or if something has not been covered there. Thanks and Cheers Carl |
Thank you to you all! Now i have clue what to get for my babies. I will have my babies tomorrow afternoon. I'm so excited to have them in my home.
