Actually it went pretty good, but a house of 9 girls screaming and running is crazy. The crafting part tho went over huge with them. Esp the coffee mug idea...they LOVED the idea of getting to paint with nail polish, and then did their own fingers. They worked well on their projects, and we got 4 things made, they got snacks and played too. We made the cups, a painting on canvas and a bead name tag for their backpacks, and we painted a rock too. Some of these girls didn't think too much in what they were doing...they couldn't imagine a finished look. So they looked kinda sloppy, and they changed ideas half way through. Oh well...maybe next time they paint they will think about it first before putting paint on it. BUT one girl really stood out, she made a cup with simple stripes and small dots on the side. A bug rock, and a flower painting...everything she made was planned. I was so busy keeping things going smoothly that I forgot to take pictures. I had the camera out and ready too. Will I do this again...sure, but next time I will keep the group to 4 girls. The noise was over the top, as they tried to out do the other...everyone screaming and running and it was too much for our small house. BUT they had alot of fun, and that is what counts. I locked the cats up and Remy spent those few hours outside...it was for their safety. Now that the moms know me a bit better and Madelyn...she got invited for future playdates. I too got to know which of the girls I felt were "right" for Madelyn to make BFF's with...LOL. I got to see alot of the dynamics between these girls, the leaders, the followers, the whiner's, the quiet independents...etc. I am very pleased with Madelyn's choices for her close friends...she doesn't have a BFF, but she is drawn to a couple of the girls, and I am happy to say that these girls, are quieter ones. They are welcome back anytime. |

Gee, 9 girls threw you for a loop. How will you become a Girl Scout pack leader?? LOL! Just think of the cookies.
I think four is a better number from now on. You are courageous. |
I am glad to hear the party was a success! |
Great news the the party was successful!
But now the bar has been raised for next year For at home parites we used to keep to a loose rule of the same number of kids as their age, plus or minus 1, depending on the activities planned. For outside parties, like bowling, McDonalds.Chucky Chezz etc it was way more invitees....plus you rope in a couple parents to drive and stay to help.. Once I took a few 9 yr olds horse-back riding! This is great for Madelyn's social life.. |
That's a good rule..age=invites.
I was shocked that they all wanted to come. Hmmm next year....it will be a new group, as they switch around the classes. We have 3 sets of grade 2. I made myself a cup too, it was alot of fun. I helped Parker make one for himself later that night. I can post pictures of our 3. |
Sounds like just the perfect kind of party for girls that age. Glad they had fun. |
Sounds like a fun party! I'm glad it went well. |
