I think it depends on a lot of different reasons. I know a lot of people will have an easier time answering this.......I just want to say that my reason for not rescuing was children at that time 2 turning 3 and a 5 year old. That was also my reason for choosing purebred. I wanted a puppy that I could train and raise up with my children, and a purebred because of being able to pick the traits I wanted to a certain degree. There are a lot of rescue dogs on here and you will get a better response soon. I wish you luck. Stormi and co. |
Nonnie,
You should contact the OES Rescue in your area. OES Rescue Network (www.oesrescuenetwork.org) is the organization that would cover the South East. They will be a great resource for you to determine which route you would like to take. Adopting a dog in need of a great home is a very rewarding experience! Best of Luck! Kristen |
Nonnie-
I now have 2 sheepdogs, the first was raised with us from a puppy, the 2nd we "adopted" this weekend. Cooper (3 yrs) is adorable, and pretty well-trained, but we all have adjustments to make. My thought was this; A puppy means starting from scratch, an older OES may or may not retraining, but remember he/she will weigh 70+ lbs! I guess you need to decide which will rokek best for you. |
