Haha!
We don't have a tv-watcher, but the noises will sometimes perk his interest and then he's right up to the tv with his nose on the speaker. He doesn't seem to care about the visual part of tv watching though... |
Avalon watches tv, the other dogs don't. But if a dog barks on the tv it gets all 3 barking |
Harry and Jack do, the rest don't. |
Ty is an avid TV watcher, Tasker could care less. I didn't really appreciate Taskers "who cares" attitude til Ty came along. Ty barks at every phone, doorbell and animal on the tv, sometimes it drives me NUTS!! |
I'm literally laughing out loud. My maltese doesn't respond to images on the tv, but definitely to the same sounds Ty does. It drives us bonkers every time the domino's commercial comes on (doorbell). ARGHHHHH!!!! Yuki just leaps at the tv whenever she sees something moving. If she was a human, she'd have several sprained ankles. She usually lands all crooked over a toy laying underneath her |
Can we also correlate TV watching to Mirror Awareness?
None of my dogs have been either interested in TV or mirrors. One would watch the TV if encouraged and if there was another dog on, but that was it. I think all of them have been interested in some sounds from the TV, especially barking and doorbells. |
Could be Ron, Ty is very "Mirror Aware". My bathroom has one wall that is almost all mirror behind the tub (tackey I know-not MY IDEA). Ty will stand up next to the tub and bark at the dog in the mirror, he gets madder and madder at the "interloper" |
Sorry Ron, Barkley is an example of a non-correlator.
He has no interest in the images on tv (even though they're eye level), but gets very excited (bum in air, playful barking) at mirrors and even more so at his reflection in the windows (probably because he sees windows much more often). His barking at/whining at/trying to play with the "window puppy" as we call it started at a very young age and hasn't stopped at all. Since moving to our new house, Barkley's favourite nighttime reflection to bark at is the "skylight puppy". He barks and growls at his reflection in the skylight. The first time he did it, it was so convincing I actually checked to make sure there wasn't someone on our roof!!! |
My dogs had no interest in TV. But Mopsy did and Harry does like to look at themself in the mirror. Although they were both afraid of the "other dog" until I showed them that it was them. Then the vanity fair began! |
Scruffy has become more and more interested in dogs on TV. She even tries to chase them off the screen. As far as mirrors, She can see her reflection in the bathroom mirror from the bed. Every once in a while she'll wake us up with a low muffled bark about once a minute. I finally figured out that she was barking at herself in the mirror, but I think she's too afraid of that other dog to bark any louder. It cracks us up. |
I think every time Yuki sees a mirror, she has to slowly walk up to it to MAKE sure, it's not another sheepie. Then she's okay with it. |
How funny Ms.J . Yuki is way to cute.
She looks like she is about to fall over the couch to get a closer look. ...LOL Harley will watch only if there is a lot of moving on the TV (or door bell,I hate that domino comical ...LOL) Now the mirror thing is toooooo funny with him. He has found that if he looks in certain mirrors he can see us in another room. I have got to try and take a picture of it.The look on his face is priceless. I guess he thinks there are two of me..... Antoinette |
Eggbert is our first dog ever to watch TV! He also likes mirrors, and, weve discovered recently, the computer. Our main computer is down right now, so weve been using the laptop, while sitting on the couch. This allows Bert to sit next to me and see the screen...He LOVES comp. games, and even gets excited each time a new line appears on the chat room! I have to keep him from licking the screen! |
None of mine seem to watch tv. They will bark if they hear dogs barking on the tv. |
Chewie's right there with Yuki watching TV. He likes nature shows the best.
The dogs out mushing really got him going on this show! |
He sure is like Yuki |
This Bogart's favorite subject--watching TV.
He has even changed the channel with the remote control. His favorites are old movies on Turner Classics, and especially sports-football, basketball, and baseball. Then there is the Animal Planet Right now he is learning to make to make a Greek eggplant dish from Food TV. |

Yes! I hate that commercial for that very reason! We can be all quiet and peaceful and then that darn doorbell! Callie has to go through the whole visitor alert routine before we can tell her it's only the tv. But that's about the only time she seems to notice the tv. Lambda will stare at it for a while, though. As for mirrors, Callie doesn't seem to be concerned about the sheepdog in the mirror - I think she recognizes herself. But she will go up and touch the mirror with her nose to stare at my reflection. She'll just stand there staring until I start making faces at her. Then she'll turn around and look at me like, "Did you really just do that?" |
Truman has watched the t.v. since he was brought home at 8 months!! Truly, we got him home the first night and were just hanging out when I noticed that he was sitting just staring at the t.v. Not much has changed 10 months later!!!! |
