Happy 18th Birthday Old Blue!!!
It's kinda bittersweet Old Blue has reached this milestone but how lucky I am to have shared my home with him for so many years. Blue Furkid of Marianne Brother of Merlin, and Panda Protector of Daisy, Paris, Asia, LG, Puff and Squeak Lover of food, balls and toys Best wrestling buddy of Merlin My Boy Blue is a Blueheeler/Lab cross whom was purchased by my next door neighbor at 8 wks. How adorable he was back then! A black head and tail with a grey body. Shaggy my OES and I often would meet Blue on the front lawn ..but as time passed Blue lived his life in their backyard. I would often knock on their door asking if I could take him for a walk and so he spent some time with us. He otherwise lived his life alone outside. A year later I moved and on a return visit I found out Blue had been taken to a shelter and I immediately went over and he became mine forever. That was 17 years ago and he's still with me today. Blue has lived with Shaggy, his OES surrogate mom and then, Merlin and Panda, his OES brothers and thus becomes an honorary sheepie as he's been with them all his life. Happy Birthday Blue! Blue was spoiled and ate the following...a steak, chicken fingers and liver treats! Like George Burns...at his age he can do anything he wants.

What a wonderfully vivid summary of your dear Blue. He is clearly such a happy guy. I am so glad you found him when he was at the shelter. I love the picture of him cuddling with his kittycat. Great tribute. Big kisses for your sweetie!! |
| I love how he loves the cats...as a kid we had a black dog, med sized... we are pretty sure he had heeler in him...maybe lab too. He too loved to sleep with the cats.

| Hi Everyone,
Blue would like me to thank all his friends for the birthday greetings. I think he was born late Jan 89 as he was 8 wks in March 89 of that year so I was going to celebrate last week. I was frantically searching for a pic of him at that age but no luck. Of course since I was in the photo too means you guys would have seen me 18 years ago too..ha ha! Blue has always had a rock hard stomach and could eat whatever he likes with no ill effects, so taking him for a night on the town for a little beer drinking would probably not faze him at all. He'd probably order a "BLUE" (Canadian beer).

At his age, it should be a Labatt Blue Light-- don't ya think? James is always bummed when we travel when he can't get his Canadian beers. We're spoiled living as close to Canada as we do. He always begrudgingly gets a Heineken instead.  |
