NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Not the new shoes!!!! Gasp, that is my worst nightmare!! |
You just TOTALLY traumatized Darcey!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry about the shoes but Darc may never recover (she takes shoes VERY persoanlly)! |
This sounds just like my post from a few months ago when Bear ate a shoe that I hadn't even worn yet! I was so mad at him. I went out and bought another pair for a ridiculous amount of money so now I have 3 shoes. |
I thought of you as soon as I read this post, Jill. I'm so glad the wigglebums don't chew shoes. *touch wood* |
Barkley doesn't chew shoes (knock on wood) but he does pick them up from the front door and bring them to you. This may sound cute, but it isn't cute in the winter time to get a slushy wet shoe on your lap or your nice clean carpet.
We've learned to keep all shoes put away in the coat closet. Sorry for the loss of your shoe. |
I remember the days of chewed shoes and don't miss it at all.
Sorry about your loss. |
London still holds the worlds record for the most pairs of shoes consumed by a puppy (and nothing anyone can say will make me believe differently). The day she learned how to open my closet door my nightmares began. |
Bear goes in waves. The other day I noticed he picked up a shoe and before i could say a word, Clyde charged at him like he had a sweet toy so he shook it with all his might and it wound up tearing the back of the shoe off. They were old and I shouldn't have left them near the dog bed but I was still bummed. Now I wear them to the dog park. |
I am sooo grateful that Panda has never had an interest in shoes......what a nightmare....poor jill ...and wyn, you need to put a lock on the door.... |
I hide my shoes from Fred. If my husband leaves shoes in a place where Fred can get them I move them immediately.
Fred has a thing for sneakers though. I had a nice pair I bought last January for running, these Nike Shox; they are not so nice anymore. Fred attacks my feet in play. He really has a thing for shoe laces. Last week I went to buy new sneakers and I told the saleswoman I would like sneakers on the more inexpensive side. I still ended up with Nikes but just not the top of the line this time. It doesn't seem to matter to Fred because he is still attacking my feet. He also seems to have a thing for day-long worn socks too. I had to confiscate some of his sock collection because we were running out of complete pairs of socks. He piles our socks on his bed with his stuffies and bones. He will also take off your socks and steal them to add to his collection. If I am watching tv with my shoes off he attempts to take my socks. If my daughter is in her highchair he takes her socks. (she starts giggling and I know just what Fred is up to) The laundry room is one of my dogs favorite places. |
Chewie doesn't really chew shoes, he leaves a few teeth marks and alot of slime. He has moved some from the "good" to "casual" category, but none have been totally ruined. Thank goodness. I LOVE shoes too, and we would have a disaster here! |
Oh no! Sorry to hear about the loss of your shoe...sigh oh well at least you can laugh about it!
You can see many people here can relate to losing a pair or two. Marianne and the boys |
Ooooff. How sad. I wonder; In that moment when you realised that you'ld lost your new shoes, did you still like dogs more than people? |

I do. I still think dollar for dollar, my dogs have destroyed fewer things in the house than my fiancee. I'm still waiting for a new sink after a caustic cleanser "incident" that literally burned the entire bottom of the sink off-- in my brand new house. |

I see, ButtersStotch, you've got a real expencive fiancee. Better fianancial condition with only keeping dogs....I'll buy that. |
LOL when we got Faith we were told to hide the shoes, she apparently had been adopted by someone who had her for a weekend. In that time she chewed 17 shoes and peed on their oriental rugs. So when she came I told the kids if you like your shoes, keep them put away. Faith did pee on the kitchen mat...constantly, I'd throw it in the wash and once out she peed on it again....finally I smartened up and threw the rug away
The kids are not so good at putting the shoes away, not one time did Faith chew on a shoe. Maybe she doesn't like the cheap shoes(sneakers) we wear. The good shoes(leather) are on a shelf in my closet lol. Those are never left to chance |
I still like dogs better then people. The last line of my post "My fault for leaving them where he could get them". I once had a chewer that got so bad that I warned people if you want to keep your shoes put them where the dog can't get them or they are gone and YOU are to blame. Simon usually just chews on the laces, even when the shoes are on your feet. The new pair had no laces. He must have been confused and just chewed the whole darn thing! |
I'm not going to even MENTION how many pairs of shoes Pippin has destroyed.
I guess he thinks Darcy needs to come over to MN and take me shoe shopping! |
One of my friends dog swallowed an expensive ring. She did get it back a few days later.
Kelsey chewed my brand new washing machine as a baby, the pipes at the back leaked too, so had to be replaced, little pin mark holes and leaks when I turned it on . The bottom of the machine was a big teething platform she thought. We have another machine Now. So I would rather loose a shoe as opposed to a washing machine |

I don't know. I think it depends on the shoes! I have a couple pair that would cost me more to replace than a washing machine... |
Our Samantha used to get after my shoes. But only the right shoe (maybe just chance?). She no longer chews them but instead carries them out into the yard (she hides...I seek). She also has learned to open the closet door so now I have to lock it.
But I didn't care if she chewed...that just meant that Imelda (me) had to run to the shoe store (DSW) to cry havoc and take no prisoners. Yahoo! |
