http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/dis ... id=7796831 She's called them to find out about him... |
|
awww, what a cutie.....he looks like he may have a little "devil may care" in him...... |
He is a really cute Boxer. I hope she gets him. I'll bet Pippin would really enjoy having him around. |
He is cute, but are you sure it's boxer and not pit? |
He's adorable!!!!
Are you able to bring Pippin to visit him for a playdate before your sister adopts him? Then you can see how they interact, and also the new pup would get to meet Pippin on neutral (or his own) territory. Oh, I love his colouring, and those eyes! He looks like quite a sweetie. |

I think he looks too tall/leggy to be a pit (though I almost never see pits in Ontario). He sure looks like a boxer.. but it is hard to tell from those photos. |
relatively... Christina's going to see him, and she worked at a vet clinic with lots of pit crosses... I have a pretty high confidence level in her ability to tell if he's got pit in him. He looks boxerey to me... but I'm a big fuzzy dog type person, I'm not as good with the shorter hair breeds. |
I'm not good a breed discernment so he could very well be boxer. I just know you are hoping for a baby and I always worry about pits and kids, especially ones that aren't around til they are older. |
Yes... (someday) Auntie Christina knows that child safety is top on the list for a new doggie. Boxers are supposed to be great with kids. |
We had a boxer...(covering Remy's ears)..he was the best dog we ever had.
But we also love Remy...teehee. Seriously the boxer was listed as one of the best dogs for families, and ours did not dissapoint. He never ran the kids over, they were toddlers...but he would to adults. Kids...super super gentle. Adults were play time, and he would do his boxing thing, all paws. He was super great at daycare, but had on leash issues...they can be quite intimidating too. People would cross the street to avoid us. I hope Gambit has had a good family history, and they treated him well...because they will be getting a strong dog, and they wear their hearts on their sleeve. |
That's definitely a Boxer.
Looks a lot like my Petey did. Boxers may have short hair, but they shed a LOT! Their tiny hairs get into everything. They are very lovable... They also think of themselves as lap dogs, watch out for thise elbows though they are boney dogs! If you think OES are clumsy wait until you see how clumsy Boxers are. Every Boxer I have ever known of has had severe seperation anxiety. We had to keep Roxie (our Boxer and Petey's Mom) in a crate when we were out her whole life. We really would have liked to given her the run of the house, but her severe anxiety did not allow that. Boxers are known for being great with kids, but they are very bouncy, so watch out for that. They seem to have springs in their back legs and can easily clear a fence. Roxie had no clue that she could have easily hopped over the babygates. She was never a problem and neither was Petey. But my Aunt's tenant had a Boxer that was always hoping the fence and roaming the neighborhood. Roxie was a wonderful Nanny to Ryan. Always nearby and always checking on him. He doesn't really remember her, but saw some video the other day and said Look there is that dog that's picture is on the fridge. Best of luck to you all. I hope he is a great dog. If he's anything like Petey or Roxie he will be. |
Oh! He's adorable!!! |
He's gorgeous!!
He looks more like an American bulldog to me... one of my favorite breeds. http://images.google.com/images?sourcei ... a=N&tab=wi |
Wow, he does look like your boxer Petey, Elissa. I haven't seen that many with eye patches. The ones we have around here are solid colored or brindle for the most part.
I hope the meet and greet goes well. |

They are also usually stockier. We had one in our complex in NY. My ex-husband asked why the guy's Boxer had a tail. He informed him he was an American Bulldog. lol Which I already knew! |
Here's a better link...

I am so glad your sis found one, and his ears are still floppy!! I think it's cuter! He's adorable. |
looks like he and pip could definitely get in some trouble together! |
o man he has a pose there huh? he looks like one of the hollywood stars who throw an over the sholder pose...how cute. and props that he is a rescue dog. |
Well, she got a hold of the rescue place, she's going to fill out an app, and then they'll get back to her with some times for meet and greet. I hope it goes well, he seems like a nice boy (well from the pics anyhow). I think he does look more boxery the bulldogs seem to be really solid looking, and he seems to be lighter boned in the pics.
Thanks for all the tips on boxers, I'll definitely pass them on. He definitely looks like Petey! Hopefully we can escape the seperation anxiety issues... |
I hope it works out, he is just gorgeous.
I love boxers, they have the same goofy personality as oes IMO.... |
I agree there is alot of similarities between the two personalities...I think that's why Remy has worked out so well.
They do shed ALOT, we had his hair everywhere. They are inside dogs too...they can't handle hot temp, nor cold...they are very thin coated. They really really love their families and do not do well outside alone. Jackson didn't have separation anxiety, but I dealt with that issue from day 1. But he was a velcro dog when we were at home. Their faces have ALOT of expression, and they are almost human like with the way they look at you. If they jump up on you, the nails are long and sharp, and they paw...like boxing...and it can hurt alot. Teaching them off, and manners is key to keeping them down. Jumpy is in their nature...and they are high energy. It has been a huge regret of mine to let him go, but we could not travel with him. Family, friends we usually visited said he cannot come, because they would not let him in the house. I did not like any kennels around here, and friends were in apt...no pets. I felt isolated, and decided our family needed a dog that could travel and be outside if required...so we got Remy. Now we have neighbours that love dogs, and can rely on them to babysit. I still don't like the kennels around here. But she is okay to travel to anywhere. But as a breed, I just love them to bits. |
Definitely a boxer, there. A good-looking one at that! Not even close to looking like a "pit-bull" - PBs have short, angular snouts and are slightly smaller than boxers - 40-50lb. English Bulldogs have significanltly more wrinkly and flatter faces. Having volunteered for both OES and Boxer rescues, I'd have to say that Boxers are more people-dependant (as a breed) than OES are. Boxers REALLY seem to need their people. Because of their popularity (I think #8 in the AKC registry), the boxer rescues are positively overflowing! Glad to hear she is considering a Rescue. ~Katie & Duds. (OES/Boxer mix) |
Katie, I'd totally forgotten that duds was a oes/boxer mix! Wow best of both worlds, right?
I'm getting excited to hear from her! they're having an adoption day tomorrow, so I don't know if she was planning one seeing him then or going earlier, or what... I'll let everyone know as I get more info |
Sure hope it works out for her. ~K. |
Yep he's a Boxer and super cute at that. Mallory shares her home with four Boxers. Boxers marked up with spots are known as "checked".
If she has any Boxer questions she's more then welcome to stop by our message board and talk to lots of Boxer owners. http://www.boxerrepublic.org/forums Our Boxers do well with little kids all but one and he has a very high prey drive and tackles anything smaller then he is when it runs. He just pins them down but doesn't bite. So he is always leashed when little ones are present. None of ours have seperation anxiety. They are intensely loyal and do like to be very near their family members, trying their best to be lap dogs. They are goofy and fun loving and all around great family dogs. I hope it works out and he gets his forever home with her. Fingers crossed. |
