I think it's okay for light play, I would just not let him really exert himself. I usually run our dogs before eating, calm down for a few minutes and then feed and usually they are tired after eating. There are really not many answers to why dogs get bloat. The best thing you can do is to split the meals up which I would recommend for a puppy anyhow. We feed in the am & dinner time. Some people choose to feed 3 meals a day. |
I do spiit the meals he eats at 6:30 in the morning then again around 5 in the afternoon. Like this morning he wanted to play in the snow when he woke up, so he was out for a little while running and being a puppy enjoying himself. Then came to the door and wanted to eat so I fed him. Then he laid down for 10 or 15 minutes and wanted back out to use the bathroom and play some more as loves the snow. I think I may just start taking him out on leash after he eats and then bring him back in for a while. Thanks for your input. |
That sounds like a good plan. Our all hold it for quite awhile after they eat, so they have some good digestion time before going back out.
Mina are actually outside in the dog yard playing. Although by now I'm sure they are ready to come in and eat, and wondering what is taking me so long! |
My guys free feed so they graze all day. I don't know if that's an option for you but I feel like it's kept them from turning into pigs about food and they eat nice and slowly. |
