Just interested since I had someone the other day tell me even with just using a pin brush you can remove too much of the undercoat for a show dog. Thanks. |

You have to make sure the pins on the end are smooth tipped, not with the little nibs on them. I'm still learning that stuff myself so I'm not much help, but line brushing seems to be the way to go among show people. There was an excellent post here on the forum somewhere giving detailed instructions, just do a search within the forum for grooming, or line brushing or even show. |

This is one link that might help.......I have went to a few dog shows and talked with pro groomers. Willow is right about not having little balls on the end of a pin brush. I also do line brushing, it helps me to make sure that I got every bit of the dog brushed. A pro groomer also said to spray water on the coat before brushing to prevent splitting. I have brushed my dogs with walmart and petsmart brushes for a year and then I finally spent more when a dog show was here and bought professional brushes and combs. I can't believe the difference that it has made. I will try looking for other sheepie grooming links. Good luck, stormi and co. |
