We are all devastated. I feel there is a gaping hole in my heart. Our 14 year old bearded collie, Wags, is also grieving. Annabelle was a year old when we rescued Wags. She had been shot with a pellet gun and had parasites and heart worms. She is also a one of a kind. Never growled or snapped at anyone either - how lucky are we to have had two unbelievable, gentle loving dogs! Wags has never been alone since we got her and is having a hard time. They slept touching each other and us, when we would go out of town the vet would put them in a run together, etc. They were the best of friends. We are all working through this. Sorry this is so long, I could go on and on. Thanks for letting me talk about Bellie. She had a wonderful life and brought such joy to ours and we miss her terribly. |

Annabelle sounds like she was a wonderful family member, you must miss her so much. I'm sorry for your loss.... |
Annabelle sounds like an angel. I know exactly how you are feeling. I lost my oes in December at the age of 14 1/2. His loss is indescribeable and my heart is broken. Sadly, we don't have any other animals to help us through this. Hopefully Wags will help you and you can help her cope with Annabelle's loss.

Sorry for your loss, 14 is a grand age. I am just coming up to 2 year anniversary for my 14 year old. She is the one in my avatar.
When the sadness subsides a bit the memories and love are there for always. Annabelle will always be there in your heart and mind, I look at it as a special guardian Angel forever. It's never easy when our fur babies cross the bridge but time eases the sadness a bit and memories are always with you of your special girl. |
I'm very sorry for your loss. |

Annabelle sounds like a wonderful dog, that lived a great life. Hugs to Wags! |
I am sorry for your loss. Our Merlin also grew up protecting our children, a job he took very seriously. It sounds as though you were all very lucky to have each other. I know Annabelle was happy taking care of her family. |
Annabelle sounds like a wonderful dog. I'm so happy you shared this little bit of her life with us. It sounds like you are filled with many wonderful tales. Sheepdogs do that, fill us with joy.
I'm sorry about Wags (what a great name for a Beardie). I'm sure he is suffering Annabelle's loss too. thank you |

Debbie,
I am so sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing the story of Annabelle taking her herding job so seriously that she had to be brought in when the kids were playing - it made me smile. We lost our sheepie, Mopsy a year ago and I still miss her terribly. You are very fortunate that your son was home with you to say goodbye. We were not so fortunate as we had just taken our oldest son back to school three days before we had to put Mopsy to sleep unexpectedly. I really thought we had a little more time and he would be home before then to get in a last hug. We called him that morning before we made the trip to the vet so he could tell her goodbye on the phone. Try to remember the good times. Annabelle will live in your hearts forever. Take care. |
I am so sorry for your loss of your precious Annabelle. She will live in your hearts forever, and the memories of her interactions with your kids will last you a lifetime.
Big hugs to Wags. She must be so confused, the poor dear. When you're ready, please come back and share more stories of Annabelle. It would be a great tribute to your girl. |
My thoughts are with you. I love the herding story ,my first OES did that with my children were young.Your Annabelle must be missed terribly by Wags. I had that happen too. When the time is right maybe another dog will help. It did at my house. She will remain in your heart's forever. Give Wags a big hug from me. |
please give Wags a hug from me |
hi hugs to you both xxxxx |
Hi,
Annabelle sounded as if she was such a special girl and you were indeed lucky to have shared 14 years of life with her. I'm so sorry for your loss. With the passing of each of mine the grief is always unbareable and if I could have chosen I would have wanted them to be with me forever. The solice that I found each time was to open up my home to another deserving soul that very much needed a forever home. Never to replace as each as unique but to honor the one that passed. Perhaps in time you will be able to open up your home and heart to another. Please also come back here and post stories of Annabelle. While you will always miss her the pain does subside and replaced with happy memories. Hugs to you and may Annabelle be happily playing over the rainbow bridge. Marianne and the boys |
Your Annabelle sounded like she was an angel here on earth and that she had the best dog mom in the world. It's been a year since I had to help Tyler over and there isn't a day I don't think of him. The only difference is that I no longer cry now when I think of him or at least almost never. I still miss him and have an emptyness. But the rest of my dog family and human family have helped me get along. Then out of the blue, I found a boy who needed a home and that is what brought Taggart to our home mid 2006. He fit in like he was always part of the family.
Please be well and remember the wonderful, happy moments that she brought you over her long and rich life. Tylers Mom |
I'm so sorry for your loss. I too lost a sheepie in January but in 2002. You are more fortunate to have had your sheepie for 14 years, but no length of time is ever long enough. That is just amazing and shows how much she wanted to stay with you. If you feel inclined to post some more stories or pictures we'd love to celebrate her life with you. |
