I'd love to hear from anyone who could help in Indiana, northern Kentucky, southern Michigan, eastern Illinois or western Ohio. There are a large number of homeless OES coming out of northern Indiana, near Chicago. Chicagoland OES Rescue takes in many of these but they have several dogs to place now as well. At this time, there are two males needing homes, one close to Chicago and the other close to Cincinnati. Any help you may be able to give would truly be appreciated.. Please contact me via PM. Thanks, Nita p.s.: This little girl was rescued from a southern Indiana shelter last weekend, just a day or two from being euthanized. |

I wish I lived closer to help you out. Hope everyone will volunteer just to foster one. It's a great feeling when you help get a sheepie healthy and then they go to a perfect home for them where they will live well cared for and loved. |
Thanks to everyone who's PM'd me offering assistance and moral support. I've gotten some names of possible adoptive families from other Rescues and several foster offers. All are appreciated.
I just wanted to show you the "after" photo of the little shelter girl above. Now she's "Miss Bee" and is sporting a new haircut and bandanna... and a big brother named Winston. |
Awww, what a pretty girl! So ladylike |
Nita works very hard to place Sheepies in this area. I don't know how she does it!! It takes a very special person to do it all..Intake, home visits, evaluations, medical care and grooming. She fosters the dogs too. Nelson has been a good boy sharing his bed and toys (plus his mommas love) to these homeless sheepdogs. Anyone involved in rescue knows what a huge task this is and that the backbone of rescue is foster homes (donations help too). But if there is not a soft place to land, these dogs cannot be saved. Please if you can open your home to a sheepdog in need ...if only for a few weeks please contact Maggie McGee IV .
Here is a standing ovation for what you do |
Nita...I wish I could help, but just can't right now. But I will be here for you with hugs and moral support...and one day soon (hopefully) be able to help with more! |
My hat goes off to anyone that helps these poor puppers. Years back I did the same with Dalmatians and know exactly what is involved. But the doggie kisses and their happy faces made it worth it. Keep up the wounderful work and cherish the group sheepie hugs and kisses you get. They know that you are a special person and will cherish you for their 2nd chance. |
Hi Nita,
We got your name from Sharon in Gates Mills.. my wife Sheryl and I are interested in doing an OES Rescue... we have a 8 year old female and she'd like to have a companion. Sheryl is going to try to get in touch with Sharon... Regards, Joe & Sheryl |
