I would like to invite the group to participate in a new Bloat survey. I will be inviting all breed groups who own dogs prone to bloat. The link to the survey is www.eastwooddanes.com/Full_Moon_Bloat.html Thank you in advance for your participation Kim Eastwood |

Okay...not to offend anyone but is this for real? Bloat is a real, physical, medically explained condition that could be fatal...what in the world would it have to do with a full moon? Is this survey suggesting that intestines twist more frequently when there is a full moon ? |
I am not sure about this, and really cant partcipate because I have never experienced a dog with bloat. Just been doing some research on elevated feeders. |
to Ashley. I don't plan on clicking on the link. I never do unless they are regular users. |
Hi,
No offense taken! Yes this is a real survey and the reason it is being done is because there are a lot of people who think there is indeed a correlation between Bloat and the lunar phases. The numbers of Bloat around the full moon are high so far from the 81 responses recieved. Some obviously by chance. It appears so far that 2 and 3 days prior to the full moon and the day of the full moon are not uncommon. There is one man who had 3 dogs to bloat over the years and all 3 were on the day of the full moon. You have to wonder about the odds of that happening! His vet records have been verified. The results will be posted once it reaches 100 and every 50 submissions there after. I am also goig to contact Prof Larry Glickman of Purdue University, (http://www.dogstuff.info/beating_bloat_pflaumer.html) who has already conducted extensive research into GDV. I intend to let the survey run as long as there is an interest in the subject. I am not a regular here because I own Great Danes. The links to the survey are completely safe. Current results and stories are here: http://www.eastwooddanes.com/Thank_You.html Kim E. |
