In puppyfind's defense

I myself have used puppyfind to purchase 4 dogs. Two different breeds. As with anything, you need to ask a lot of questions. If someone is not being honest, something they say at some point will trigger a warning bell. I have been extremely happy with the transactions I have had with puppyfind. But, where I lacked in question asking, that is my fault. Not theirs. Most of what I had a problem with was where the dogs are registerable. The dogs themselves have been more than explained or even seen. I managed to actually get a "show quality" dog from a very reputable, what I guess you would call a backyard breeder. I happen to prefer to call some of them Hobby Breeders of which I believe are not breeding for money, but for the love of the animal. I plan to do this as well, and I don't want to be considered as a backyard breeder. I will be carefully screening all potential puppy buyers, and be selling puppies with Limited Registrations and/or spay and nueter contracts.

Puppyfind is ok, and there are a lot of reputable people there, you just have to weed through them, and ask a lot of questions.

I agree with you. I showed siberian huskies and had a few litters, but because I did not do it on a large scale I was considered a backyard breeder. I followed the guidance from the club, had my dogs checked and xrayed, provided health guarantees, pedigree, etc and screened who I sold my puppies to as much as I or anyone else could.

We have gotten 3 dogs through puppyfind.com with ABSOLUTELY no problems. We researched the breeders, and spoke with them frequently. We purchased a Golden Retriever 2 years ago, and 2 Westies this year. All 3 dogs arrived healthy, well taken care of, and with GREAT tempermant. Our only advise would be to research your breeder, and this isn't just for puppyfind, but all websites.
I am so sorry for those of you who were scammed, have had photos of your puppies stolen(which has also happened to me) and then falsely posted by scammers, etc, and especially for those of you who have had the tragic experience of "adopting" an unhealthy puppy and watching as the puppy suffered, because of someones love of money and not love of their dogs and puppies.

I am a loving and reputable breeder, who has been blessed with the opportunity to use Puppy Find to find ONLY wonderful, loving homes for my puppies and place healthy, happy puppies with those families. My pugs live in my home, not a kennel. Our puppies are raised literally "underfoot", amidst our family.

There are many of us out here who love their pets, just as I do, and breed for the love of the breed, to continue the breed standard and improve the breed standard..... I also love to bless others with the same joy that my pugs have brought into my life, by placing pug babies in their homes! Many of us are hobby breeders (not even back yard breeders) Not all of us have kennels, nor operate as a kennel..

ITS SIMPLE.. SCREEN YOUR BREEDER! (JUST AS I SCREEN PROSPECTIVE FAMILIES) Ask for many, many references, especially a reference from the breeders licensed Vet. The vet the breeder uses (the breeder DOES use a vet, RIGHT???) knows your breeder best, as do those who have adopted puppies from the breeder in the past.

I do not give our pups vacs, they see the vet, usually 3 times by the time they are 8-9 weeks old. If you aren't welcome to visit AND spend time in the breeders home amidst the pets, don't walk away, RUN!

This is also a sore spot for me and simply "my opinion"...but anyone who can put a puppy in a crate and have it "shipped" in cargo cant be too loving or caring about their puppies. A puppy has enough to go through leaving mommy and siblings without that kind of trauma! Find a local breeder, there are those who advertise on Puppy Find who will (or should) welcome you into their home and hand deliver your puppy. If not for my nannies, who hand deliver my non-local puppies (actually carrying them onboard with them and keeping puppies with them in the passenger cabin of the plane), my puppies would all live within driving distance. There are red flags...pay attention. Puppy Find is not wholly to blame for unscupulous and dishonest people. Those people also advertise in newspapers AND on breeder referral sites! I have also researched and found that Missouri IS known as Puppy Mill Capitol of the U.S. Just because someone is usda inspected doesnt make them reputable. USDA ,to my understanding, inspects puppy mills, who sell to pet stores.....

DO your research, but please, don't blame Puppy Find. They are doing their best to catch the scammers, even with the help of the reputable breeders. We hope to keep Puppy Find reputable, also, so we do our part, in reporting any suspicious activity we find. I am thankful for the many wonderful people I have had the joy to meet through Puppy Find.

AND I think we are in the majority!=)
I have to say, and maybe I'll be banned or find this post erased, but hasn't enough been said already about "backyard" breeders and "puppyfind"? And are you kidding me that because people put their dog in crates or ship on a plane, they don't care about their pups
That just shows how little you've been educated on about raising a heathly normal puppy - I won't even touch your probable incompetence at breeding.. What education, what experience, what knowledge do you believe you have over the breeders recommended on referral lists? You re kidding, aren't you 8O
