I was curious as to what occurs during a vet visit to check on eyesight. Has anyone done this with their dogs before? Now that I've had Panda for several weeks and know him better, I've noticed several things. Unless he does this little turn around dance he does to face me...he never sees a ball. The others at the dog park have noticed Panda's little quirkiness too as when they throw his ball unless he's facing someone directly ..it goes flying over his head. Words of "Oh Panda!" are becoming frequent. Always said affectionately of course. Still it's starting to concern me as he also will run into people and other dogs especially when he's playing. In their exhuberance many dogs have accidently bumped into people but Panda does it more than any of the others. ( I've cut his hair around his eyes so that's not it) He also will trip over things just below him and doesn't appear to see things on the floor or ground when he's walking. Little Austin was stepped on once and has since learned to compensate and will dodge Panda when he sees him coming. I hadn't noticed it earlier as he did appear to see his food dish but now I'm thinking he was probably quided by scent and hearing when I place a water dish infront of him. Anyway I'm curious to know if anyone has had their dogs eyes tested beyond a basic exam at the vets and what's involved? Thanks in advance. Marianne |

Hey
Sorry I don't have advice for you, but I can really relate. Albert has always been clumsy, but these past few days his eyeballs have been red and he has had alot more "eye crusties." And when we've played latley he has not been able to find the ball right after I throw it, he sniffs around until he trips on it and hen takes off running with it in his mouth. It's like he can't actaully see it. I am planning on taking him to the vet ASAP. I would also like to know about an eye exam. |
