Marley has a bump

Last night I was petting my one year old female OES Marley and discovered a large lump on her right shoulder along the spine. This morning it seems to have gone down quite a bit and we do have a vet's appointment next week. I know she plays very roughly with our male who outweighs her by about 30 pounds so it may be an injury and it also is in the general area of her micro chip so it may be a latent infection. ANyone else have any experience with young dogs and lumps or bumps?

has she recently gotten any shots? Panda got a bump from a shot, it took about a month to go away...
actually she did get some immunizations about two weeks ago but I would have noticed a lump sooner I think - although I have been working very long hours I have groomed her and we went to agility class twice since then (where she gets me to pet her most of the hour when it isn't her turn). that would be a good outcome - although it would make me feel very negligent!
Is the lump in the spot where they gave her the shots?

I would suspect a reaction from the shots, too. Hey, unless you are specifically looking for it, or rubbing in the right position it is fairlyy easy to miss. Been there...done that....

Give your vet a call, and it may ease your mind right away..
the bump would probably be in the exact spot she got the shot. That is somewhat reassuring - however we will still be going in next week to have it checked out!
8) I was petty my Aussie Shepherd China the other night and I notice a bump on her back near her rear end. I took out my flash light and to get a good look at the skin through all the black hair. It was indeed swollen so I got a warm wash cloth and put it on it for a few minutes. The next morning when I woke up I got out the flash light again and could feel it had gotten bigger and changed shape. So I took a warm wash cloth and put it on the bump and slightly rubbed it. it broke and I just kept wiping it till it stopped seeping. (no I did not take pics) It is all better now.
I hope you are as lucky as I was. Good luck.
Kelsey got the same thing too from vaccinations quite a few years ago. Took a fair while to go away. If you feel it, it should be quite firm and round like a pea in shape. Hope that is all it is, seems logical as she has just had her vacs. and I did not pick that up either till a few weeks later

Helen you have my sympathy 8) , nothing worse then an exploding puss balls, been there with an abcess that went POP 8O
