Not sure if Im doing this correctly...to reply to a reply??? yup, I have one sheepie print coming out this spring, along with a few other doggie pieces that Im working on for a dog themed art show that a friend and I have planned. Most of my work is of Alaskan animals, but Ive done a lot of dog portraits as commissions over the years, and in fact thats how I got my 1st sheepdog...a wonderful lady commissioned an OES piece from me and I fell so in love with the breed while working on it that when it turned out that she did OES rescue, I adopted one (and later a 2nd) of her foster dogs! laurel |
Welcome from Norway |
Hi Laurel,
Welcome to the forum! I loved reading your bio regarding how you got interested in Sheepies as well as following what I'm sure is a very creative talent. There's a few artist that are members here as well. See you already have lots in common with many and glad you and Miss J will be meeting some time. I'm Marianne from BC and mom to Blue, Merlin and Panda, 4 cats, bunny, GP and two boys. Marianne and the boys |
Welcome to the forum! |
I just got told to check this forum by Miss J! Another Alaskan eh? I knew your artwork as soon as i read your name! i want a big peice of your art! I just haven't gotten the ability to get one yet! A sheepie print would be cool! Are they going to be as brightly slored as the others? I love that!!
Maybe we can get all the Alaskan Sheepies together for an Alaskan Sheepiefest! Nic |
Welcome from the midwest. Can't wait to see pictures of Bert and Abby. |
welcome |
They aren't the greatest, but I did finally manage to get some photos on! More (and hopefully better) to come! |
I love this picture of Bert!
He is a sheepie rug! Where do I get one of those? |
I love that one too!!!! Can't wait to meet him!!
Nic |
Weve debated a lot in our house as to why Eggbert likes to lie this way...
1-convienient sheepdog throw rug 2-keeps his tummy cool 3-doggie yoga 4-low profile handy for ankle-grabbing 5-he's just plain weird |
It's a sheepie thing our old OES used to lay like that sleeping and eating

All joking aside, if it wern't for the fact that he came from the breeder with his hips already tested (we adopted him at 6 mo.s) We would be concerned about this posture! Can a dog be double-jointed? He is very, very limber, and even when walking normally, he holds his hips rather far apart...is this any cause for worry??? |
Hi Again,
Don't even worry one bit about it at all as this is a sheepie trait and known affectionately as the "frog pose". Seems unique to the OES breed expecially and of course we all agree they just look so darned cute laying like that. I've had 4 and all of them did the frog pose. Marianne and the boys |
Thanks Marianne! Bert is our 1st Sheepdog PUPPY, and since our other 2 were rescues already in their "senior" years, weve never encountered this before! We call him (among other things!) our "pudding dog" because he's so amazingly bend-y! |
Welcome! |
