We are not sure how old Dixie is, but assume she is close to 2 years old. We hadn't had a major coat change with her, but she has always been kept quite short. We are hoping to grow it out, now, and find that she is at that funny, matting, thickening period. I just meant to brush her, but found all kinds of little mats close to her skin, so I just started stripping. It took me about an hour to get this much, and it is only from her sides and chest. She doesn't look much different, but her coat is thinner and can breath easier now. I find it very hard to believe that all of this came from about half of her. She is not shaved, and I did not use scissors on her once. This is just undercoat, stripped out. I still have her head, neck, butt and legs to do. Maybe another day... |

Wow - isn't amazing how much hair is there?!!!! |
It's is amazing how much undercoat there is! We stripped Martin out this summer for ease of grooming without clipping him down....wow...big difference in his "puffiness". lol
It is also amazing how FAST it grows back. |

yes!!! I like your new avatar btw Carl's wife. |
One thing I have learned: be careful when you strip to either keep stripping on a regular basis or keep a good watch and brush well when it starts growing back. The little shorties that grow in can actually cause more matting. |
OO...good point about brushing regularly...that new growth can be a real bugger.
Yep, I like my new avatar too....Dawn is really a momma's girl! Finally, my own sheepie baby that loves ME best! |
