Animal Planet-GREAT Show on Dogs (well... other animals too)
The show talks about thje benefits of animals, mostly talk. I've only caught the last 45 minutes of the show, but it's very fascinating. They talked about a program with troubled youths who are assigned a dog that is in need of adoption, however have behavioral problems. The dogs help get the dogs trained and ready for adoption, of all the youths in the program, none have been repeat offenders in crimes. This I just found amazing on the show. Dogs have a sense in their smell to detect... CANCER! In the show they took 10 samples in a peatry dish, 1 had cells with cancer, 95% of the time the dogs are able to detect cancer! In one case, a dog kept going back to a clean sample, turned out the sample was free of cancer, however the patient had cancer in another part of their body. I highly recommend you watch this show. Jane Goodall is the key speaker in the show. |
