All lovely choices. My favs are the 2nd and 5th links.
The first dress is great, but seems like there is a potential for "cleavage issues". I really like the first two dresses in the Macy's links, but they look like they might not allow free movement. LOVE the first Lauren skirt. What would you wear with it? |
Maxmm, can you help me understand something? Every time I watch a dog show (which, of course, is often), my husband and I ask the same question -
"What's with the ugly shoes???" I understand that women handlers have to run around the ring. But there are a ton of cute flat shoes out there. Heck, they could wear a cute pair of black Sketchers. Why do they all wear such bad shoes? The female judges usually wear nice shoes. Personally, I can run through airports in a pair of heels and have been known to walk Bailey in high heeled sandals. You're a woman of good fashion taste, and I've seen pictures of you in the ring in cute shoes. So tell me, why do the other women wear clunky bad shoes? |
Oh, yeah. Anything that is low cut would DEFINITELY have a camisole underneath it!!
I don't even know if I want to go dress or suit or seperates. I usually wear seperates but don't know if I should go dressier for this show. Hmmmm. Here's the outfit from the National: And the suit from Puppy Sweepstakes: And the seperates outfit that is something like I normally wear. It's a pencil skirt, just below knee length and flaired/vented. |
I would have to know your sizes and see a really good picture of you, but I think, if you can...you should wear a suit with pants. Something that will give you the flexibility you need, but also be a little different and modern, giving a professional athletic look, while still being feminine.
I QUICKLY chose some I like, which would look good on many different body shapes. I like these because of the unusual and feminine cuts of the jacket and I like the softer blouses, rather than a more structured cut. "What's with the ugly shoes???" DUDE!!! Tell me about it! Just because they need to be functional does NOT mean you need ugly, orthopedic, grandma shoes. YUCK! I think these people go shopping with the intent to find the most horrid shoes that they can. I usually wear boots or ballet flats or a loafer but it has to be a pretty cool loafer. As soon as we figure out this outfit, we'll need to figure out shoes too. I found some cool ones, I'll have to post those next. |
I really like the jacket in Mark's first link. Very classy. How dressy are you supposed to dress for Westminster? |
These 2 look great.
Love the longer jacket for this suit. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2907412/0~2 ... 377668&P=3 And love love love the shirtdress. http://www.edressme.com/dressescd7005-black.html But is that dressy enough? And please wear comfy but stylish shoes. Maybe a ballet flat? http://www.skechers.com/catalog/browse. ... odId=16666 We'll be watching!! |
I love the suggestions that Mark posted.... very stylish and modern.. very together...
I am so excited for you and I don't even understand the whole dog show/judging thingy..it just thrilling. Brenda |
Good stuff, Mark!
More options to consider people! I have a jacket that is similar to the first link. I've been debating what to wear with it. People tend to shy away from pants but last year's winner did fine with it. (She wore an Armani pant/tuxedo style suit.) So if I go with that style of jacket, what style of pant? No tapers or thin cut but something with a really wide leg or a flair? I'm a size six in dresses and skirts, pants need a larger size and a tailor, stupid big thighs and tiny waist! (Hence the no tapers or thin cuts!) You know you want to leave sunny California for dreary old New York in February, right? Maybe Jill would let you hold the bucket for a while for some more advice! |
I love the calvin and kenneth dresses, but that last suit is just beautiful......with your heeled boots, you'd look smashing Daaling, just smashing! |
I also like marc's first jacket......a lot! If you need me to go around to Macy's and be your personal shopper again, no prob...seems we did okay last time |
I like the Jacket that Mark posted (the first link) however I think traditionally women don't wear pants at Wesminster. I really think the 3rd link you sent http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/i ... =EverGreen This outfit is really really classy and I think it would look stunning on you. |
Hi Maxx,
I'm reading post while drinking my morning coffee before going to work so don't have the time at this moment to check out all the sites. I just know with your model good looks - you look fabulous in anything. My thoughts, but I will check the sites when I get home. Marianne and the boys |

I second this vote. Cute and feminine, but solid and not too revealing. |
I actually like Calvin Klein suit. I think it's simple and elegant, yet dog show at the same time. It seems wearable again too. I'll look around for you. |
I actually like that traditionally women don't wear pants. It will get you noticed, however if you think some of the more traditional regulars (or judges) would not like the idea, then don't do it.
Either way, I would think you would stick with simple classic lines, picking up color in the blouse or shoes. How cool would it be if you wore all black, with red shoes? Everyone's eye level will be on that part of you anyway. HAHA Can't wait to see what you pick. Looking at your pictures, you are beautiful, so anything will look great on you. |
Marc...Thats Brilliant! I love that idea!! |
I LOVE the first bestsey johnson dress, but I agree that there might be some cleavage issues haha... so I would go with the second dress it's really cute! And I like Mark's idea of all black with red shoes! |
I really like this one of yours
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/i ... =EverGreen But I really LOVE this one of Marks http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2907412/0~2 ... 377668&P=3 You would be a knock out in both, but the second seems a bit more serious to me. Some of the others were good, but you are so attractive I'm afraid in one of the others the judges nay not see the dog for being lovestruck, especially if they are male (or so inclined) Great choices though! Shellie |
I like that one's lines, of course the model is leaning a little so it's a little hard to tell. I don't like the blouse though with the sleeves over the hands and the huge collar. Feels very 70's to me.
(Referring to Dana Buchman 'Cosmo' Three Quarter Length Jacket, the Nordstrom link.) |
I've looked at them all and here is my vote, in preferance order OF COURSE!!
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/i ... =EverGreen http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/i ... =EverGreen I also like the last one (the lavender and blk suit) |
My choice is the 2nd one, the grey wrap dress, think suits are too stuffy (personally) wear something a bit daring and fun .... just like a sheepie !!!!! Good luck |
I love love love the first dress! But I'm with everyone else.. I think if you wore that the judge would be too distracted! you are just gorgeous! Lucky!! I think my vote is for the calvin klien suit. It's beautiful!
I can't wait to know what you'll pick! I wanna go shopping with you sometime!!! We have the same taste!! nic |
I think I would go for more of the tailored look like Marc's links but would prefer to see a skirt rather than pants. Since it's a guy judge, maybe you can afford a little cleavage?? It is way hot in the grooming area!! |
I like the third link, and LOVE the last link.
I wouldn't normally wear that color, but I LOVE that outfit. I would go as dressy as possible for Westminster, think Black Tie for Best In Show |
I also absolutely LOVE the first link in Mark's post... |
I just had the best idea ever, Mandy. What if we wear matching outfits? |
LeAnne and I went through them all. We liked 2 the best. We vote for the 2nd one you (Mandy) posted and the Calvin Klein skirt suit.
We also really liked the bias cut swingy wool skirt - just need to find something for the top! Also liked Mark's red shoe idea. |
Marks ideas are the best, keep it tailored and classical and dress up the suit with a matching bright colour top under the blazer and matching shoes, that way you look classy for the major event and you stand out with a brighter colour as a trim to the outfit.
As deb said too, show off a bit of cleavage as well (if you have it, flaunt it!!!), takes away from a matronly look then. A top and suit always looks smart, then you have it for other big shows down the track, you only need to swap tops and shoes to make a whole new different outfit then. Now what is Suzi wearing LOL. |
