what to do?

i just don't know what to do

my FIL tells us that we will be moving to the us next year but there is a possiblity we will have to leave einy here until perminant resisdence is sortted out because it is not fair to ship him out there and then ship him back if it doesn't work out

but heres the thing my mum can't take him she has dogs and is having building work done

and i don't really want to leave him with SIL and hubby coz they can't really manage the two dogs they have

any ideas people it would really help with the stress

i've told FIL we are not moving unless the dog comes to so it won't be a long time that hes here and we are there but to long if you ask me

Maybe someone on the forum can foster Einy...
I would suggest seeing if someone on the forum can foster too... there aren't a whole lot of UK members, but a few... that would be a good place to start
I would assume if you move here you will stay in something temporary until you find a permanent home. If that is the case, bring Einy. There are plenty of temporary residences that accept dogs. If things here don't work out and you go back to the U.K., so be it. Einy would be fine traveling here then back.
Actually, at least in my area, it is VERY difficult to find rental property that will allow you to have a large dog. Most of the apartmetns here will allow one SMALL dog. When I was divorced many years ago I had to buy a mobile home because there was no one who would rent to me with such a large dog.

Finding a foster home there or even here in the US might be a very good idea. Do you know where you might be moving?
to florida to start with we will be living with my in laws so having einy there is not a problem

but it is very very expensive to keep shipping him back and forward and the uk have really strick import rules / or 6 month quantine so i'd prefer it to be a oneway trip

So the issue is not finding a place to live, but that you might be here only a short time and you don't want Einy shipped back and forth?
Curious FIL...means father in law??? What does your husband have to say?

Why is your father in law calling the shots?

You could just stay in UK and have hubby go first find the place, and then everyone moves together...

We have alot of kennel's here where you can board the dog for long periods...people do this when building and time runs out and they end up in an apt, and can't have a dog in an apt.

Sorry I am just confused...I would look at this as a permanent move, finding a house is pretty easy if you are ready to buy. You could be at the in-laws for a week and start househunting. Is hubby being relocated? Is there a job waiting?

Or as the others said try and find him a foster home...so he doesn't have to travel.
sorry for the confusion

at present we (me and hubby) are running my father in laws business in the uk while he lives and works in florida.

he has found a business to buy in his and my hubbys name so that we can move out there too. they will work in the business giving me time to stay at home with our son (18 months old ) or go back to college. it may take a while for all the business stuff to get sorted and visas etc.

we will be staying with my in laws for an undecided length of time they know einy comes with us as a package and even though my FIL is not a dog person he does like einy and even lets his sleep in there bedroom when they are home in the uk.

the reason we will be with them a while is that we will more than likely buy a house on the same estate as them (it is a very new estate) and we will have to wait for the house to be built.

the reason i need ideas for einy is that there will be a period of time probably only a couple of months where we will need to travel back wards and forwards between the uk and us to settle all our affairs out (flying to london to go to the embassy for visas etc) and should any thing get denied then i did not want to put einy through being shipped alother again.

so einy would be staying in the uk until we has sorted out visas so we can live and work in the us.

this will be a perminant move once us resisency is sorted and i only want to have to ship einy once.

i am looking forward to the move it will be as good for einy as it will be for us. i dream of nice sunny florida dog walks and dog parks and sheepie dog picnics etc and having enough space to have 2 sheepie so we can get einy a friend.

i'm probably over sensitive about einy and spoil him too much but i just want what is best for him.

sorry again to ramble to much

If you feel it will be permanent I would just bring him with you, but if you are concerned that it will be denied or might not work out then I agree to wait. The shipping probably isn't a problem, but if he has to go back and spend 6 months in quarantine that would be awful :(
I don't have any advice but I do hope it all works out for you all :D
Oh Zoe that is a hard situation, I know how you feel, the problem is if you do not get permanent residencey then einy having to go to a quaranteen kennel for 6 months. Like here it is the same, they can leave the country with no problems but coming back in, months of quaranteen. :(

I hope you can work something out, hugs for you both. :ghug:
