the series (kinda like little house on the prairie) takes place in the early 20th century....its about a boy who is a mischief maker....he goes to an all boys school.. gets into a lot of trouble with the priests...and his parents..the only part i remember vividly enough was a part about the new basketball court that the school had built...how he felt about the ''real'' hoops verse apple crates..etc...they were a wonderful series and would like to get them...but i dont know how to go about and find this out.... does this ring a bell with anyone?? |

Maybe you could call the childrens section of the library and ask them? They might know the books. |
I think you are looking for The Great Brain series by John D. Fitzgerald. If those are the books you are looking for I read them as a kid and loved them so much I bought them for my sons when they were young. They were originally illustrated by Mercer Mayer who drew Where The Wild Things Are.
Here is the list of books with the ISBN number. Just call your local Borders or Barnes & Noble and give them the ISBN number or the author's name and they can look them up in the system to see if they have them in stock. They have been reprinted several times and I don't know if that has a bearing on the ISBN number. The Great Brain (0440430712) More Adventures of the Great Brain (0142400653) Me and My Little Brain (0142400645) The Great Brain is Back The Great Brain at the Academy The Great Brain Reforms (0440448417) Return of the Great Brain |
Judi, I LOVE YOU!! Thats it!!! I knew I could count on you guys!! I loved those books too!!
xoxoxox...thank you soooo much!! |
That's a good nickname for Darcy, I think. |
Your welcome Darcy! I can still remember running back to the library to get the next one.
I think I love Children's books more than any books to this day. |
the "brain"?...gee thanks..... |
The GREAT brain.
I think I mainly liked it because I was picturing you sitting around reading kids' books, which made me think of those Encyclopedia Brown books, but with you as the character. Like "The Adventures of Darcy and the Great Brain." Wait-- I guess you're not the Great Brain after all. Thanks for correcting me. Go on with your adventures. |
sigh.....i just cant get no respect |
You can also order the books from Amazon and oes.org gets $$$$. There's a sticky at the top of this forum where Ron explains. It's very simple. |
