I understand completely. My dog is a Momma's Boy. |
Try to look at it this way, the fact that she dotes on him is what has won him over. If she were more attentive to you then he may not have fallen so much in love with her!! So in a way, it's a good thing. Dogs can chose one person to shower with more attention than another, but I really don't think that means they love that person more.
It is the same way with Children, they often fall all over Dad but deep down it's Mom they go to for kissed hurts and securtiy. Tasker was MY DOG for six years, long before I even met Doug. Then Doug and I got together and I'd swear there are some days that Tasker is HIS DOG!!!!! But it's a good thing, it has helped them to bond. |
Yeah, that pisses me off too.
I did the work to get our OES. I groom Yuki ALL the time. I read up/research her food, health, etc because I care about her. I'm with her 10 times more than my husband. I buy her bones. Who does she love? my husband. it doesn't matter how much or little attn he gives her... she's SO in love with him. Sigh.... my maltese is the same way, and he completely IGNORES her!!! |
How familiar this sounds
After 6 years with no oes charlotte came.... And yes i do too the brushing, bathing, feeding. But he walks her a lot, so that is probably the reason why she is so much in love with her "daddy". In the beginning i was jealous, but now i am happy with it as long as they r both happy. My other oes Cassy is now mummy''s little girl |
its funny because panda likes us equally, but i have noticed one thing...if one of us is up and about and the other is sleeping behind the closed door...she would rather lay up against that door than be with the person who is awake... |
LOL! Bailey does that too! He hates it when one of the herd isn't in the same room.
Bailey is my dog and he wasn't supposed to be - he was supposed to be Tim's dog. I can't explain it. I really, really wish it was the other way - I'd love to catch a break when my husband is home! But alas, I'm doomed to be covered in sheepie kisses for as long as Bailey lives |
oh yes, I can relate too. My baby Callie (that I had before we got married) LOVES my husband. She is at his heels every minute - and she minds him much better than me also. But the really funny part is that he has always wanted a pug (me not so much). So we got one about 6 months ago and she is a Momma's girl for sure! She follows me everywhere I go no matter what he is doing.

I'm the cook, cleaner, groomer, bottom washer, butt checker etc etc etc and when my sons or hubby get home, I am nothing. They desert me for the MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
How funny!!! It seems that the girl OES's love the men more and the boys seem to love the women more! Funny!!
I'm glad I'm getting a boy! Let's watch this record be broken all to bits and me be just like all of you guys and annoyed at hubby for being the more loved one!!! Nic |

It sounds like most of the doggies are showing bias toward the members of the family that are not the "care givers".
Do all the care givers also act as the discipliarians? I wondering if the dogs learn to be attracted the people who only give pats on the head, walks, and treats. I use to be that guy to my sister's beagle. I would swoop in on weekends and give him treats and pats. So he would always follow me around. Mike |
I think Mike is correct. I am the caregiver, obedience trainer, walker, cleaner, etc... and when Daddy is around forget it - all 3 (both sexes) want to be near Daddy. |
Well sure they show more "love" to the pack member, not the pack leader! His love for you is different.....they are pals, you are Mommy/packleader. It's not love, it is just animal order. Humans love, animals respect. |
