one pot roast, one package of lipton onion soup mix, two celery stalks, one chopped onion...fill crock pot with water to above the roast..cook on medium 1 1/2 hours before serving add chopped potatoes and carrots...season with a little more s & p... voila....pot roast |
Put Roast in Crock Pot, add one packet of onion soup mix and two cans of mushroom soup. Fill the remainder of the way with water. Cut up potatoes and carrots and add to pot. |
Karen - my best crock pot roast is without "extras". I season the roast by rubbing salt, pepper and garlic powder into the meat. Then wrap it tightly in foil and put it in the crock pot on low all day.
It sits there and bastes itself over & over in the natural juices until it practically falls apart when you open it. Very tender and delicious. Goes great with rice or mashed potatoes. |
Yum, I'll try the foil technique. My fall back recipe is like Darcy's except I had a heaping spoonful of tomato paste and a splash of Worchestershire sauce. Alas, since I've cut back on the salt, I have to just used dried onion, no soup mix and go light on the Worchestershire. Still OK. |
Yummy yummy! thanks guys!!! |
I slice up two potatoes, lay them across the bottom of the pot. I take a hand full of baby carrots and sprinkle them across the potatoes. I then put enough water in to cover potatoes/carrots. I salt and pepper water/potato/carrots and then sprinkle onion flakes generously. I then set the roast on top of potato/carrot and salt/pepper/ onion flakes roast to taste. Once roast is cooked I then take the broth on the bottom out and make gravy. mmmmmmmmmmmmm good! |
hey kar...how did it turn out and which way did you make it?? |
