Our other pets?

Hi everyone,

I know this is a sheepie forum, and if I upset someone I am not trying to. After a last few posts, I have noticed that a lot of us have pets other than our sheepies. I would love to hear about our sheepies brother and sisters.
We have 4 cats that I have mentioned here before, and the turtle. If my children had it their way we would have a few others running around here.
So lets here it, what other furry children do you have?
Stormi and co.

Our Sheepie share his home with a blue merle female Australian Shepherd, a red merle male Australian Shepherd and one wild baby bunny that I bottle raised. Can you say three ring circus? That is about the only way to explain the evenings with all of them in the house. We have had the bunny for about 5 weeks and Pud has just found him. He looked at the bunny, wagged his bottom and looked at me like get him out Mom I wanna play with him.
We have a full house too! Besides Pirate the sheepie, we have an 8 year old Jack Russell Terrorist named Molly, a 9 year old grey long haired domestic cat, named Leo, a 10 year old blue point siamese cat, named Khobi and an 18 year old American human female teenager, named Stefanie.

The most difficult one to domesticate is the American human female teenager :P
I can't imagine that you would upset anyone!

When I was growing up, I had dogs (uusally several at a time), cats, and rabbits. Now, dogs only! Allergic to cats - but still love them! We have had our occasional outdoor stray cat but none recently.

And while back, my sisters & I bought my Uncle a hamster for Christmas and much to our surpise it gave birth to 8 little hamster babies on Christmas Eve - so we had a few hamsters for a while there too!

I think it's funny to see how many animals we all have grown up with in common - I grew up with Siamese cats - which I know that a few others have discussed recently. They must all have similar personalities that draw us to the same breeds.

The American human male teenager (X's 2) is not so easy either, not to mention the American human male adult
I think we all have to make allowances for any species of males

(sorry, Ron!)
At our house we have 2 OES, an all black cat named Chase (named for what the sheepdogs did when the cat came into the house) and one Cichlid fish that is huge, killed all the other fish and will never die. He has jumped out of the water and sucked my finger in up to the first knuckle before.

AND I'll see your teenagers and raise you a swing band! This breed is very similar to teenagers except they are quite large and if they misbehave you don't send them home to their moms you send them home to their wives!
Merlin and Panda share the household with Blue, a 15 year old Blue Heeler/Lab and four cats, Daisy, Asia (aka Mama Kat), Paris, (aka Grey Baby) and Lil Girl. All the cats were rescues and are fairly young aged 1-2 with the exception of Mama whom turned out to be 7 with bad teeth and was therefore deemed unadoptable by the Humane Society. Sheesh 7 is still young for a cat! My last three passed away 2 years ago at the ages of 21 and 19. The three I had before those ones also died at 21.

I also have a salt water fish tank and a gold fish pond outside but not sure how they are doing due to Merlins and Panda's fondness for sitting in the pond up to their necks.

I was just thinking today how sweet it is when animals of different species become buddies. Blue likes Daisy the best and she often cuddles up with him. I think it's because Merlin doesn't bother her when she's with Blue. Panda's favorite is Paris the grey cat. Paris loves to accompany us the first block on our walks and will rub against Panda and Panda licks the top of his head. All the cats steer clear of Merlin whom thinks they are wonderful play toys.

I've never lived without animals and even when I moved away from home the first time I snuck in cats in my apartment. The landlord finally figured it out and said you have to get rid of the cats...umm nope I moved into a place that allowed cats instead.

At twelve I was really bad my 14 yr sister and I brought home a total of 13 strays in a one year period, both cats and dogs. Even at that age I took the responsibility seriously and both my sister and I worked (babysitting) and picking blue berries to spay and neuter all of them and get their annual innoculations. Six of them were the ones that lived until age 21. My poor mother was a single mom and yet she never said no to us as it was too much part of who we were. Both my sister and I continue to take in strays.

It's really bad however when it was never my kids bringing home strays..but me and they would say nooooooooo not another one! ha ha.

As well as Blue, we have Brownie- a 5 yr old Mini Jack Russell terrier. And boy is she vicious! She will literally tear tufts of hair out of Blue for no reason. She's the boss and, if you stand too close to her when she's eating, she'll latch onto your shoe. The only way to get her off is to lift your foot off the ground until it's above her level and she's forced to let go.
She and Blue really do love eachother and will curl up together to sleep. As an added bonus- Blue's beard is always nice and white- Brownie licks any debris from it!

Then there are the two goldfish. They don't officially have names- we all just refer to them as "the fish" or sometimes Stattler & Waldorf (the grumpy old men in the balcony from the Muppet Show). They're four yrs old and like in a small tank in the kitchen.
Anyone know the average like expectancy of a goldfish?

Then there are the ducks. We live on a lovely big farm with a man-made lake (a present to Mom from Dad!) which houses Mom's pet ducks. Four drakes, three hens and seven ducklings. There's a bench by the pond for sitting and watching. Blue and Brownie aren't allowed down there unsupervised anymore. There was a little, ehem, incident involving a nest being raided and damaged eggs.

Other than that- even though these are not pets- there are maybe a hundred bulls.. Dad breeds them. Then there are wild pheasants, rabbits, hares, badgers, foxes and a crane who visits regularily.
Hmmmm... animals, first thing that comes to mind is a strange breed I call dirt trolls. Four of those! Ashley, 13 yr old girl dirt troll, Nathan, 12 yr old boy dirt troll, Tyler, 11 yr old boy dirt troll, and Aaron, 9 yr old boy dirt troll.
And there is Winston,5 yr old huge orange furball cat, Dancer, 6.5 months old (my sheepie), Sky 2 week old sheepie, Sweet Pea, approx 2 yr old rescue ragdoll/siamese cross that is simply not all there, Isis, 11 month old tortishell oriental shorthair, Kia, lynx point siamese, Kiara blue point siamese, Krunch, seal point siamese, the guinea pigs, Paige, Piper, Cuddles, and now Tru (a crazy baby piggy that my daughter insists on keeping) As well as Ugly the pleco, and 2 goldfish, Johnny and Star.
Helen,

Pirate also lives with a JRT, Molly, who we refer to as "mean ol' Molly" She is so rough with him. When we first brought him home, she literally pierced his ear with a bite. They have a love/hate relationship. Sometimes I worry about them, cuz they get so out of control...and I have to break them up. She also terrorizes our cats. They live their lives on top of furniture to stay away from her.

Molly is a very difficult dog. She has a lot of health problems on top of being a typical Jack. We can't pick her up...she'll bite us if we do. And last time I brushed her (after she had a jealous fit, cuz I was brushing Pirate) she bit me.

But for some unknown reason, as much as I resent her attitude, I love her to pieces.

Deborah, this is a regular occurance in my house! If you do anything to Blue, you have to the the same to Brownie. Whether it's brushing, throwing a ball or giving a treat. The JR goes nuts if she thinks Blue is being favoured (which, admittedly, she is!)
I belong to a 12 year old boy upright , a 2 1/2 y. Queensland mix Erised, a 1 y. Lab mix Neville and Bellatrix a 15 wk old sheepie. The boy belongs to a 1y. old rat named Mohawk and a 6 or 7 y. old cat Pipskweak (sp) (my son named her) Right now we also have 4 kittens not sure how old they are but they are still being bottle fed and 2 are about ready to try a little food. We aren't even sure if the are from the same littler!! So in a few weeks i will let y'all now how many we couln't part with  It was easy at first i didn't get too attached but my son finally let me help feed them (i actually had to beg).

When we let them on the floor all the dogs want to play with them . it is really sweet. Neville it the nicest of all and really loves them . We may have to keep one just for him if he gets too attached.
(And to think the ladies at the animal shelter thought he might eat them!!)
He isn't the friendliest of dogs :(
You know I cannot believe that Ron let the "male" thing go without some type of comment!

Helen, I can just see a sheepie herding ducks! I have figured out already that if there is more than one of any movable object together, Pud is going to try to herd. That includes Mom and Dad, other two dogs in the house, my two sons, etc., etc., etc.
Wow, I never thought that this post would get such a response! And here I thought there were just a few of us crazy animal people. It is great to know all of you just a little bit more and the rest of your families. It seems most of us our cat people too. :P I think our sheepies usually get along with other animals.
We have luckily never had a problem with Jack or Annabelle with our cats. It seems the dogs either think they are cats or the cats think they are dogs, Im not sure which? :?
It has seemed most of the people who find out how many pets we have think we have gone mad. I now have a place where I'm not the only loony one! I am only kidding.
We still haven't decided to breed our ragdolls, we are still doing our research. If we breed, we have decided it is best for the kittens to keep them until they are 12 weeks old. One of our biggest problems is knowing how attached we could get and then have to let them go. I guess time will tell.
Anyway, I am rambling again. It was nice to hear about all of your furry and upright families, I really enjoyed it. Stormi and co.
Gee, I almost feel guilty saying that we have only one other pet besides Truman, our OES. We have a cat named Riley. He's of dubious parentage and came to us through a vet who had rescued him. He's kind of funny looking (DON'T tell him I said that!) but we like him. He is white with a little spot of orange on his head and his tail is entirely orange. We tell him he looks like he stole his tail from some other cat! He has a very friendly personalityand spends a lot of time purring and kneading his paws on any human surface. His favorite place to sleep is on my head - literally! He likes to drape himself over the top of my head with his front legs down my face and his back legs down the back of my neck. It wouldn't be so bad but he snores and he's a major pillow hog! He's sneaky, too! He waits until I'm asleep before he ever so quietly drapes himself overhead. For some reason, he only does this to me. I've tried to convince him that my husband's head and pillow are equally comfortable but no way will he listen.
well i have a circus also.i have a collie who will be 2yrs old on Aug.9th.2 kittens who are 12weeks old their names our Sassy and Mittens, and then we have Mickey!!i also have a daughter who will be 8yrs old Aug.24th.life is wonderful
In addition to MO a full sheepie, we have Harry a half sheepie half (?maybe deerhound or wolfhound.....talk about legs!) Then there are 3 Great Pyrenees: Sam, Paige and Fox. ALL doggies are rescues. AND from time to time we have a rescue dog bunking in on their way to a new home.
Wow, five dogs! Sounds like heaven to me! And an asylum to my husband! LOL
wow!!this site is full of a bunch of crazies!!
