I'm So Excited

I am anxiously awaiting the birth of my new baby. Well actually I have always wanted an OES and finally decided to make one apart of my family. My new pup will be born sometime near the end of July, here in Ontario, Canada and as I only live 5 hours away in Northern Ontario I will drive down and pick him up.
this will be my first OES and have been trying to read as much as I can about the breed. House Training, whether or not I should crate train. Now that I came across this forum I will be able to get some good advice here I am sure.
I have been trying to get ready for his arrival in September and feel like I am getting ready for a new baby.

Congrats on your soon to be new arrival. I have only been a member for a few months myself and I learn something new here every day. You will find that the other members are very knowledgable about this breed (and I'm learning).
Hi Dawna,

Congratulations on choosing a sheepie! :P I am sure the end of July will feel like an eternity for you. It is an exciting time. I got my first OES was when I was 11, they are truly a unique breed. I couldn't imagine not having the hairy kids in our life.
We didn't have any problems with house training our 2, but I think it helped a lot that I am a stay at home mom. In my opinion, crate training is the best way for a lot of different reasons. The puppy or dog feels safe and secure in a smaller space. Most dogs will not go to the bathroom in the space that they sleep and stay in.
Welcome to the forum, the people here are really nice and have lots of great advice. We look forward to meeting and hearing all the stories about your new baby sheepie. Stormi and co.
Welcome Dawna! :)
Where in Ontario are you? And where are you getting your pup from? I'm in Central Ontario.... and am getting my 3rd OES on August 6th.

I am from the Sudbury area, I live in on a 162 acre farm just outside of Espanola. I will be getting my pup from a breeder close to Barrie and I am very excited about it. I am sure everyone around me will get sick of me talking about the new pup to be.
I keep tossing names around and keep asking everyone one what they think a good name is. I have a few ideas, but I am sure a name will click once I see the pup.
Thanks to all who replied. I am sure I will be picking everyones brain for any knowledge about this breed that I can get :D
Hi Dawna!
I am also new at the forum, and I agree with everyone above about the good advice you will get here from all the wonderful memebers. :D I leanred more about OES here then I did from reading the three books that I bought, well... at least as much! 8) I know EXACTLY how you feel, I was waiting for my baby girl for what seemed like an eternity! It was also difficult to pick one out, they were all so adorable and cuddly. But we sure made the right choice. Mopsey arrived yesterday, and she is a doll! Ask the breeder to send you a lot of pictures after the puppies are born and as they are growing up. You should be able to pick out your pup anywhere from 5-8 weeks old, depending on the breeder. I read that 8-12 weeks is the best time, because you can see some of their personality by then. Wish you much luck with your new puppy.
