Seizure Dilemma

My sister's dog, Frosty, a Samoyed, had a seizure at the groomers, where she had been groomed for years. After some time had passed, she decided that Frosty was just maybe sick or something and tried the groomers again and again she seized.

I know nothing about seizures and wonder if there is something else she should be worried about. What do you guys think? They aren't bad groomers, my dog goes there and he loves it. She hasn't had her groomed in a while now because she is just plain scared. I'm not sure if she can handle doing it herself, and is scared to even do that at this point.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have no experience or advice regarding seizures, but I'm sorry her Samoyed is seizing. Has he been to the vet? Is he on medication?
No and no. It was such a random thing to happen, you know? Should she take her to the vet?
I would.

How old is the Samoyed? Is this the only two times she's had seizures? I'm going to do some reading online to see what I can find for you. :?
In a dog prone to seizures, stress can trigger them. It can even be "good" stress - anything that goes beyond normal everyday life. There have been a few bassets through our rescue with seizures lately.
I would take him to the vet to see what their opinion is. There is a good chance that they will want to do a MRI to see what's going on which can be rather costly.
I'm sorry that happened. I wouldn't take her back to the groomer until you speak or take her to the vet. I could understand the reasoning of taking her the second time thinking it was a fluke but if it's happened twice and only at that place I wouldn't go back. I think it's a good idea to look into it further and then decide what's best as far as the grooming is concerned. Maybe the vet will advise you about a good solution.

It sounds like it's been a while and no seizure so that's good news. Is it possible the groomer was giving some kind of sedative or drug that maybe didn't sit well with the Samoyed?
Do groomers normally sedate the dogs before they work on them? I will ask her right away.

No, I don't think they can do any sedating without your permission. Maybe each individual state varies though.

Unfortunately, I've heard of it happening without the knowledge of the owner.
Twice, and only at the groomers sort of seems like a
pattern, but it could be coincidence. Does the groomer
give any treats? Could Frosty be having a reaction
to them? I only ask this because my one dog has a
violent food reaction.
I think she should ask the vets advice - I would never
have guessed my dogs reaction was food related.
Maybe the vet can ask the right questions to get at
the solution.
Hope this is solved quickly!
