Fine. It was Monday, and we figured he'd walk in and out. Well, the judge obviously wasn't in a good mood, because he charged Jason $75 for his license being expired by only a week (less than a week really). Ugh! So...learn from our mistake and keep an eye on your license! I guess the good side of this story is at least we don't have to pay a speeding ticket and this fee for the license! |

just looked at my license...it was issued 06/99 and doesnt expire until 11/27....bummer, I get to keep this ugly picture for another 21 yrs |
SERIOUSLY????? Wow, ours are only good for 4 years too. The year I got married I had to change my license 3 times in a one year period!!!! I had moved (november), then it expired (in may), then I got married (august). Then I moved AGAIN the next year to the house (July)... time #4. Boo government! |
WOW! You guys got hit hard for the expired license! There is actually a scale of severity for those kind of things being expired and 1 week is usually at the officer's discretion. He probably thought that with 3 things being wrong he should cite you for something and you got the "cheapest" citations. He probably figured that you could get out of the insurance one by showing the card to the clerk. $75 bucks for the license is expensive!! We have high fines here but that beats us. Yikes!!
I do have to confess that I bug the officers to do written warnings on people instead of verbals. That makes them accountable for getting the infraction fixed instead of just blowing it off. Tickets are for mean people! |

Tickets are for mean people! I know. I thought it was crazy since our licenses are only $20. Even the DMV only charged him $1 for being late. Ah well, it'll teach us to be more careful next time I guess. |
It's the insurance card I always forget to put in the car. |
CA licenses seem to take forever to expire. But I just looked at my VA license and it expires in 08...but I got mine in 05...that's not very long! Less than 3 years...Oh well, hopefully I'll be outta here by then |
Are you sure Darcy?! That's a LONG time! |
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That's what I was thinking, too, Stacey! Twenty-eight years is a very long time for a driver's license to be valid. In North Carolina, our driver's licenses are valid for five years and they renew on your "0" and "5" birthdays. They try to make it easy for you to remember. |
yup totally sure...thats what it says on my drivers license...i looked twice too! |
That's incredible. Holy
Is that the standard in AZ? |
@Darcy; I think 11/27 is November 27th.... you missed it by 3 days, Darcy!
@maxmm; 3 warnings within 1 year gets you a suspended license in MA. I guess they figured out that some people were realy good at talking their way out of tickets. |
FYI
An Arizona driver's license does not expire until you turn 65, so renewing your license can remain at the bottom of your "to do" list. However, you are required to obtain a new photo every 12 years. |
no it expires 11/2027....which means it will expire when im 60 |

What a butthead Shellie |

I got the information from an AZ state information site...so...you might want to look into this....or double check your birthdate? Also...what good does it do to say that the license expires at 65 when you have to get a new photo every 12 years. How do they get you a new photo without you going into the dmv and basically renewing the license? I guess you don't have to worry about testing or anything, but you would still have to make time to go to the dmv and do the photo thing. |
All I know is that my husband still has his same picture from when he was 16 (he'll be 30 next year), so he gets more than his share of 'are you sure this is you' looks and questions about his license. Especially since we moved to a different state, but since he's a student he still is technically a Californian so doesn't have to get a VA license. |
