So I went home to my parent's house on Thanksgiving Day to see my family and let the dogs play but I had to drive back that night because I had to work the next day I left work Friday, feeling tired from all the driving and miserable, not having anyone around, knowing that everyone was together having fun and I could not...thinking about my boyfriend and how I wish he were here to hang out with...feeling all alone the whole ride home. I stopped at the mailbox and actually had some mail (keep in mind I was still waiting to get my mail - just moved). I arrived at home and was welcomed by my best pal Monty and gave him tons of hugs and kisses (what would I do without him to cheer me up?!). I then noticed several cards in my mail stack!! We opened them together and I cried. I totally cried beacause the holidays can be rough and these past few weeks have been rough with moving and a new job and those cards really helped me through that day...and I wanted to express my thanks to all of you!! THANK YOU AND BLESS YOU ALL!!! I think I could cry again!! Aahh!! Bridget and Monty |

HUGS BRIDGET! GLAD YOU LIKED THE CARDS YOU'VE GOTTEN SO FAR, HOPE THE REST BRING YOU MORE HOLIDAY CHEER! CHIN UP, IT'LL GET BETTER!!!! |
Holidays can be rough for so many people, myself included. I enjoy the cards so much, they bring a bright spot to every day no matter what the rest of my day is like
I'm glad they are doing the same for you |
As far as I'm concerned holidays pretty much suck (I know I know you've heard that from me a million times). The card exchange last year REALLY cheered me up, and this year it's the one thing I have been really looking forward to. It is so much fun the way they dribble in. Last year it started around this time of the year and cards continued to arrive til a couple weeks after Christmas. Some of the people who were late getting their cards out were all embarressed about sending them late but as far as I'm concerned it just made the fun last longer. It was truly a bright spot in every day and I have no doubt this year will be just as much fun. |
My sentiments exactly!! I'm not a big fan of the holidays and haven't been this excited in a long time when the mailman arrives! What a difference a bit of cheery mail makes! Marianne and the boys |
That's what it is all about, sharing the christmas spirit with an extended global family. So glad you had a smile and some happiness, holiday times can be hard but sharing the spirit brings happiness and joy to all.
Hugs to you and I had a tear in my eye when I read your heartwarming post. |
I'm not too manly to say that I had a little catch in my throat reading your post aloud to Joan.
:sniffle: |
Oh Bridget! Hugs! I'm sorry you're having a rough time right now. Holidays can be tough, especially when you're away from home & family. I'm so glad the cards from your sheepie family helped make your day and mood brighter. That really is what it's all about. I love, love, love, going to the mailbox now! The rest of the year, I may check my mail twice a week. |
Glad you liked the cards you've gotten so far |
Aww Bridget....yeah the holidays can be a big let down. Glad you like all the sheepie cards. They sure do brighten up these winter days. I LOVE all the cards we are getting. I have only mailed out the international ones....I feel bad I didnt write a personal note in mine...some of the cards come with such nice notes. Thanks everyone |
Just think - you are going to have approximately 60 reasons to smile this Christmas just from going to your mailbox!!! |
You can always take a road trip to Chicago and visit my crazy house for the holidays. Ohio isn't that far from me. I can promise you after one day with my household you will be glad to be home for the holidays |
Please excuse my ignorance...(not an altogether uncommon ocurrance)
What Christmas card list? Did I miss something (also not an unusual event)? |

What Christmas card list? Did I miss something (also not an unusual event)? Yup you missed a post, LOTS of posts. In early November we started the annual tradition of the "Christmas Card List". Drezzies Mom was great enough to compile the list for us. Anyone who wanted to participate sent her their address and she them emailed an address list to all participants. We send Christmas Cards to each other. It is not required but most have a "sheepie" theme. You have missed the list for this year BUT have no fear there is ALWAYS next year. Start looking in October, one of us Christmas Card IDIOTS is bound to bring it up. |
Bridget, that happened to me Tuesday. I was having a lousylousy day (bad stomach flu, feeling sorry for myself). Got a sheepie card in the afternoon mail with the nicest note and of course started to cry because someone actually cared. Lisa summed it up: we're a global family. |
Bridget, the holidays are tough enough without moving and starting a new job too! You poor thing! Make time to do some nice things for yourself in December because all of this change is very stressful.. Maybe a massage?

I'm glad you feel that way (since I haven't even taken Bailey's picture yet ) |
I love getting the mail!! And these cards are probably the best thing about this holiday season!! I am a bah humbug, I can't help it. I was even given one of those lamps that give the "natural light" and are supposed to help you feel better with the holidays and winter months and lack of sunlight - blah blah blah.
But I swear this card list is far better treatment!!!! (although, a massage does sound nice... ) Best Forum Ever!!! |
