Christmas card displays

I was wondering if anyone had an good ideas on how to display their cards. I've never gotten so many and they aren't all going to fit on the mantel like I normally do. Any ideas crafty or for purchase?

I plan on using a couple of big sheets of bristol board and making a sort of collage of them :) That way I can add to them every year and eventually cover a whole wall for the holidays :)
They have those christmas tree things that you hang on the wall. I don't know what they're called. They're basically card holders, but displayed in what I think... a classy way.
I posted it in the other thread but I'll post again here if you missed it:

PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, yeah! Gotta get em up there first!!! Here tapey tapey tape! Maybe that'll happen tonight...
Do you have them hanging around the doorway with scotch tape? I'm trying something for the first time this year since we'll have so many cards. I have wide red ribbon and plan to attach the cards with hairpins. Then, Steve has the job of figuring out how to attach the ribbon to the doorway between our living and dining room. This is the plan!
Stacy, I hung mine on a wide ribbon but then when I ran out of room I started putting them on the wall with tape.
I have a piece of garland over the kitchen doorway -actually one on each side! The livingroom side is for the sheepdog exchange, the kitchen side is for the basset exchange. I attach the cards with straight pins (or paper clips in a pinch!)
I attached the garlands by tacking up a little nail in the crack between the wall and the trim at each corner of the door frame, then draping the garland.
Those are great ideas. Keep em coming. I think I might be able to do the garland thing on the window from my living room to my kitchen.
I needed these suggestions! GREAT ideas!!!! :D
I actually got these the other day, only $3.00 AUD a packet and comes with wire tinsel and 24 christmas pegs to hang the cards.

Really good as being a wire you can hang it vertical or horizontal. So have 3 packs. Just bend the end of the wire around a pictrue hook or any thing else. Works better then ribbon because as it fills up with cards it does not sag, like santas belly.

Free sneak peek!! I saw a couple I don't have yet! 8O
Lisa!! Loved your idea!

I thought of stopping at an office supply store and purchasing 3M blue stuff used for hanging posters on walls without the worry of peeling paint or wallpaper when removing it.

At first I was going to place them in my living room, but with so many think they would look awesome in my front hallway (it's very big). That way my son's friends whom may not come upstairs but into the rec room , can also view them.

Marianne and the boys
Glad I gave you a good idea, I think it's pretty nifty, you can also just use clothes pegs, that is all they are, but someone painted them red and put cute little santa heads, trees & reindeers on top of them.

I use to just put the cards on a shelf, but when cleaning day comes a real pain and also some of them would get lost behind others. This way each and everyone can be seen, they are out of the way and can't wait to fill the room with each and everyone of them hanging up around the family room.

By the way Marianne my husband was in fits last night, you really made his day

Now I really have to get organised and start writing more cards for family and friends and a few other people overseas for christmas.

This is so wonderful, feels like a huge global extended family. :D
I have a coat closet in my family room. I take long pieces of wire ribbon and tape it up over the top of the door, hanging straight down. Then I staple the cards to the ribbon as they come in. I can fit three pieces of ribbon, so it holds a lot of cards. Less messy than taping the cards directly to the door and the ribbon ties in with my other decorations.
What great ideas. I love the decorated close pins. I'm also thinking I could definitely handle the ribbons on the door thing, because I'm not all that crafty when it comes to things like this.
Don't the clothes pins sound like something from Altered Art by Stacy?

I love this idea. I think I will try that this year. Except I don't have a coat closet in the family room, will have to improvise.

Usually I nail a string from one side of the mantel to the other and then place the cards over the string so you just see the front of the card and the opening would be facing down. Kinda like Lisaoes but with no clothespins. But I like the idea of stapling them to ribbon. Seems decorated and practical where they won't fall.

Lots of great ideas.
