We will be looking for a terrific new home for him. He deserves the best after all he has been through! |

Well just as soon as I posted this, I got responses up in the rescue section! |
He doesn't look oes to me, but maybe if we saw him shaved? Do you have any new pics?
He may be a cross, he looks to have some terrier or spaniel in him to me. Maybe crossed with Bearded Collie? His body type is not oes at all. The coat looks more beardie/terrier-ish? I hope you find him a great home though! |
I'd be tossing up that either an OES mix or a Beardie Mix. Have you got a picture of him clipped off?
The one of the dog in the crate with the way his head is structured looks OES though. Beardies don't have such a blocky head & square muzzle compared to an OES. And he looks chunkier in the body, beardies are slighty finer and a smidge smaller. Hope you find a wonderful home, keeping fingers and paws crossed for you all. |

Wow! What a different looking dog! I still don't really know what he is, but he is a handsome boy |
No idea what he is, but he's HANDSOME! Someone will eat him up! |
He looks so much better! He's a handsome fellow, but I have no idea what breed he is.
Please give him a hug from me!! I just wanna squeeze him! |
I looked at him again...I almost see a Great Dane muzzle. He looks like Foz's friend, Shammos |
I thought he looked like an oes when he had his coat, but now I don’t know, but I bet he liked to get ride of the mattes |
What a different looking dog |
He's cute. Doesn't quite look OES to me anymore but very handsome. |
Wow! He sure is pretty! With that grizzle grey coloring... I'm not very sure, but that is such a hound type looking face underneath all the hair. There aren't a whole lot of breeds that end up with the blue coloring, he certainly could have some sort of herding dog in there somewhere... |

I thought he had a hound dog type face too LOL |
I thought OES mix with great dane, just looking at his front legs and the size of them and the length of his toes too. Danes come in a blue colour too. So that is my guess, has a dane muzzle and thick set like an OES, also before you clipped him off the second photo sure looked shaggy OES to me.
Anyway whatever he is, he is sure a lovely looking boy, looking so great now after clipping off all that matted dirty clump of a coat. I am sure he will be a wonderful addition to a new furever home. Best wishes for you both. And thankyou for all that you have done for him. |
What about these? Weimaraner, mixed with Sheepdog or Bearded Collie maybe?

Here is a blue danes web site, show the head of a Blue great Dane. The ears and the muzzle and expression on your boy sure looks similar.

Hi,
Sorry I missed this post! I thought he did look like a Sheepie (OES affectionate term) mix with and without his hair. I had seen this photo in the photo section however and wondered whose dog it was. Something about his eyes or his expression reminded me of my Panda boy, who was also a rescue.(not the one in the photo but another one of my boys) I am sooooo happy you guys stepped up and helped him out, as the eyes are the window to the soul and this boys eyes tell a story of hardship. Thank you for helping him and making his life better!! Have you contacted any OES rescues or had offers of someone wanting to take him? He deserves the best forever home! Please keep us posted! I forgot to mention that if one of our dogs suffers some kind of skin trauma due to bites, allergies, diet, the fur is black in that area which shows up when they are shaved. It will eventually go back to being grey or white. I see some black near his paws and that could explain that coloring there or the fact he may be a mix with another breed. Marianne and the boys |
I missed these posts all together! We were saying originally that he looks like a bloated Weimaraner. We thought about Dane too, but I don't think so. We really don't know. I had read that if an OES has a tail, it should have a white tip-no white on this boy. He is a mystery! I can't really tell what color his fur was in those nasty photos of before we got him, and he was so dirty then anyway. My husband saw him in person for the shave, I didn't.......time will tell. Whatever he is, he is! |
ElizFCDF wrote: Hi all. I posted in the rescue section, but haven't gotten a response, so I thought I would try here. My husband and I are Saint Bernard lovers who are fostering a dog who we think is an OES or OES mix. I won't repeat the story here, but I would love to know if folks think he is an OES. These photos were taken by someone else when Watson was his prior human at her house. Obviously, she didn't take proper care of him. We have cleaned him up, shaved his matts, and gotten to the vet. (see rescue section for more info). Now that he is shaved, he appears to be all grey/blue-no white. He has his tail. We will be looking for a terrific new home for him. He deserves the best after all he has been through! Definitely "part" OES. The grey hair, face, mouth, nose. Not sure what else, I agree maybe some terrier. |
I see hound in the face and ears. Body, is that fat or bulk? Blue color does lead me to hound--blue tick or bloodhound, or yes, even Dane. Hairy.....could be some sheepdog went walking through there. Markings aren't there. How tall and weight? Poor boy, he deserves a couch and loving home. |
You do know this thread is like almost SIX YEARS old, right? Vance |
thanks Vance |
