written by Jim Waymer The 3-foot-long alligator, its jaws snapping, chased Sammy, a golden retriever, through the doggy door and into Candy Frey's lanai. Frey and her adult daughter used a shovel and a pool brush to shoo the reptile out the door. Then Frey shot the gator four times with a .40-caliber pistol. A state wildlife officer cited the 48-year-old Brandenton woman for hunting without a license. The warning was rescinded a few days later, but such incidents tend to trigger headlines, public outrage and worry about an alligator over load in Florida. |

First the snake in Emily's yard (Bingley's mom), now a gator through a doggie door......... note to self.. do not retire in Florida |
I glanced at the topic and thought this was going to be about football. Sorry! I have a one track mind at times. |
Scary! That is TERRIBLE - at least no one was hurt by the gator.

hahahaha.....yup...what a mess to clean up Glad my mom lives on the second floor! |
I think the point was, once you got it out of the house why shoot it? If it was outside, just call someone (Animal Control) to come remove it. |

Yes, that WAS my point. If your immediate safety was not an issue anymore, why go the extra mile and shoot it? |
Were they in a neighborhood where other people lived? If so, who's to say that it wouldn't go somewhere else looking for a snack?
In Florida, if a gator comes into a residential area and approaches houses, vehicles, pets or people, it is captured and PTS. Usually the authorities do it but apparently this resident has the Florida mindset and just did it herself. |
I can't imagine being a kid playing outside, and then getting this wild (stupid) idea to see how close they can get to the gator before it snaps. I know boys have to do this. |
