What I've bought so far on ebay (used of course!): LOST Season 1 LOST Season 2 Assault on Precinct 13 MI: III I told my husband he HAS TO watch LOST with the guys because they'll love it. They're presently watching some other guy like series that I've never heard of (war-based). This particular seller will ship directly to Iraq, so it looks like I won't get to see LOST. My husband loves when I say things are good even if I've never seen it. Here is a list of DVD's that came out this year if it helps trigger your memory. I'm bidding on Nacho Libre right now. One of his soldiers is bound to like it.
BTW, people are banking on used copies of Lost. It cost a lot. |
I am sad to say I haven't seen hardly any movies this year at all, or last year for that matter
I will keep an eye on this thread too and maybe get some ideas. LOL |
It's sad that I'm jealous that I'm buying all these movies for my husband but haven't seen them myself. He at least DESERVES them.
Here's a better list of movies for 2006. http://us.imdb.com/ReleasedInYear?year=2006&country=USA |
I know you said no children's movies, but my husband abosulety loved Cars. I enjoyed it too - very good movie. |
I LOVE children movies, but Mr. J doesn't care for any of them, even the classics.
Lil J and I will watch Cars one day! |
Does he watch The Shield? Every guy I know seems to like that. That would a be a good TV season to buy.
Another good "guy" movie that he'd probably like is the Transporter 2 (and the first one if he didn't see it already). Actually let me consult the pile of DVDs sitting on our TV. We have them split up into movies that James watched alone, ones we watch together and ones that I watch alone... Well, it appears James watched quite a few of his movies because the pile has gone down considerably. All we have left is Unleashed, Jarhead, Lord of War and Annapolis. Those would be his man recommendations. We also watched X Men 3 together, which was fun if you like the X Men. You can buy the whole trilogy now for like $30, which isn't bad at all. |
I'll ask him what the show it is they're watching. If it's not the Shield, then it sounds like something the boys will like. I JUST talked to him, and I already forgot what he told me.
He loved Transporter II. Definitely his bag. Hasn't seen X-Men III, so that's also a good choice. I'll try to get that on ebay. |
Walk the line and the pink panther, My favourite movies |
If you're looking for TV series I think the guys would like the FX show "Rescue Me" with Dennis Leary which revolves around a NYC firehouse post 911.
Maybe you can contact some TV networks or movie studios to try & get them to send a bunch of movies over? I would think they would just give them to you? ~VerveUp |
Picking ones that I think might appeal to guys (minus any political ones)
Films: Mission Impossible 3 Slither X Men: Last Stand Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift Lucky Number Slevin The Sentinel Inside Man The Benchwarmers Basic Instinct II Eight Below David Chappelle's Block Party Kiss Kiss Bang Bang 16 Blocks The Pink Panther Firewall The Producers I've seen a few, but not most of these. I thought X Men was ok, but not as good as the fist 2, I liked Firewall; I didn't like Lucky Number Slevin |
tgir, that really triggered my memory. Those are great picks. I'll start making a list of films to buy next month. My ebay total is reaching $600 now.
I didn't really like Lucky Number Slevin either. |
Here are some older ones that are pretty good & I think are more guy related:
Fight Club Suicide Kings Swingers Very Bad Things Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels Enemy of the State This one was released in 2006 - Flight Plan. |
Comedies---
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby RV |
Hot Shots, both 1 & 2 with charlie sheen, still makes me laugh at how silly it is. |
Mine (husband and son) vote for the xmen series, Star Wars series, old westerns, Matrix, Dances with Wolves, both Shreks, Oh Brother,Where Art Thou?, Grandma's Boy -unrated. Not all are new,but hope it helps. |
Some recent movies Mr J and crew might like....
For some light, male humour: Click (with Adam Sandler). RV (Robin Williams), Wedding Crashers (Vince Vaughn and one of the Wilson brothers) Or maybe King Kong? Guys tend to like action flicks, but you probably don't want to send over anything with too much action in it. Also maybe avoid sending holiday/Christmas movies because it might make them even more homesick. Some fun action/comedy ones: Men In Black, Charlie's Angels (probably too girly, come to think of it...), X-Men, etc. Maybe a football movie? Radio (Cuba Gooding Jr.) If you're able to, you could send along some movie-munchies too! If they have a microwave, send over some microwave popcorn! |
I'm thinkinf of renting a couple of movies tonight, probably Click, and The Da Vinci Code (loved the books, haven't seen the movie yet)
Has anyone here seen Click yet? |
yahoo gave it a decent rating. I want to rent it! I have too much going on to go do it though. you'll have to tell me because I plan on getting it next!
Last time i was at the store, it was between Click and the Break-up with Jennifer Aniston. I chose Break Up and The Lake House. I liked the LH out of the two. Wasn't great, but it was better than a C or "okay" (how I judge things). |
I saw Click.....I thought it was OK, but nothing to write home about. One thing it did do, however, was keep you drawn into the movie...Then the last part of it go boring... |
Updated list of what I'm sending him so far. I can only buy so many each month! I forgot whether or not we saw the latest X-men, so I have to check first. Definitely will get Click too.
MI: III Assault on Precinct 13 Lost: Season II Lost: Season I Nacho Libre RV sentinel united 93 WILLOWSPRITE, what did ya rent?!?!?! |
